NEW YORK (AP) — A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday for the long-delayed Brooklyn development that includes a new arena for the New Jersey Nets.
The $1 billion arena was announced in 2003 and was originally supposed to be open for the current NBA season. But the $4.9 billion, 22-acre Atlantic Yards project has been delayed by lawsuits filed by residents who fought the use of eminent domain.
