WSDOT studies buildings on route of bored tunnel

  • WSDOT says there are 157 buildings along the alignment that could potentially be affected by tunneling.

    The tunneling machine would start boring near South King Street, about 70 to 100 feet below street elevation.

    The Washington State Department of Transportation is considering replacing the Alaskan Way Viaduct with a bored tunnel, and the owners of buildings along the route are wondering how that would affect them.
