Mount Vernon to start flood project

MOUNT VERNON — The city of Mount Vernon is seeking a contractor for phase one of a downtown flood protection project estimated to cost $1.5 million to $2.5 million.

Work includes construction of a floodwall, four stop log closures, pedestrian pathway, and grass-pave driving surface. It also involves reconstruction along Freeway Drive.
