GLY Construction's new office space in the 200 Building in Bellevue has been certified LEED gold for commercial interiors by the U.S. Green Building Council.

NBBJ was the architect and collaborated with GLY's in-house integrated design manager, Dave Burger. GLY was the contractor.

The building is owned by Columbia Pacific Management and managed by Kidder Mathews. Kidder Mathews said its Sustainability Practices group worked as a consultant to GLY on the certification.

GLY said the 20,000-square-foot space has an open floorplan to bring in natural light and help with energy efficiency.

Dirtt Environmental Solutions provided custom modular interiors that are made primarily with recycled content materials. They were shipped from the factory and assembled on-site.

Ceilings are left exposed to avoid using ceiling tiles, and much of the concrete floor is also exposed.

Low-flow fixtures have cut water usage in half compared with traditional fixtures, and upgrades to the HVAC systems have also reduced energy use.

The indoor air quality plan calls for using low-emitting paints and furniture, and green cleaning procedures throughout the building. GLY said it will work with employees to show how they can help to maintain the air quality.

GLY will also purchase green power, and has created a program for tours and signage so employees and visitors can understand the sustainable systems and operations.

Other firms on the team were: McKinstry + Valley Electric, Patriot Fire Protection and Coughlin Porter Lundeen.
