OLYMPIA — The state Department of Ecology has secured five federal grants worth a total of nearly $4 million to help return 1,100 acres of coastal wetlands and habitat areas back to natural conditions in Jefferson, Pacific, Thurston and Whatcom counties.
Ecology is working with the Lummi Nation, Columbia Land Trust, Capitol Land Trust, Jefferson County Land Trust, Cascade Land Conservancy, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to ensure the lands will be restored and protected.
