Port of Tacoma officials said yesterday part of the payment for 745 acres the port is selling near Maytown in South Thurston County will come in the form of sand and gravel, as well as cash and other considerations.
Port commissioners OK'd a proposal by Maytown Sand and Gravel, which offered $8.5 million in cash, $8.5 million in sand and gravel at current market prices, 7 percent interest income over the term of the sale contract, and proceeds from any future sales of smaller pieces of the property.
