Tucked between the landmarked Belltown Self-Storage building and a Martin Selig Real Estate development site is Haddon Hall. Developed in 1910, the six-story building at 1921 Third Ave. began life as an apartment building. Plymouth Housing acquired it in 1996, then later converted it to a congregate residence.
Haddon Hall is now vacant, and the owner recently filed plans for its demolition. The permit application states in part, “The building is uninhabitable and is a liability. We have had multiple breaches of trespassers who have stolen all electrical wiring and plumbing … And we have had to engage a security company for 24/7 fire watch services due to the fire suppression mechanics triggering the alarms.”
