Seattle-based Runberg Architecture Group promoted Jason Tran to senior associate. Tran started at Runberg as a summer intern in 2014. He has worked on a range of multifamily residential properties, from low-income housing to luxury high-rises. In his new role, he is responsible for moving projects from initial design through construction. He is project architect on the 771-unit Grand Street Commons for Lake Union Partners and Mt. Baker Housing in Judkins Park, and has worked on Hobson Place, Tony Lee, An Lac and Cascade. Runberg designs mixed-use urban environments.

ALSC Architects of Spokane promoted Troy Bishop to principal and Gale Stanley and David Elms to associate. Bishop is director of design. His recent work includes Sacajawea Middle School replacement for Spokane Public Schools, Whitworth University's Athletics Leadership Center and the Meyer Health & Sciences Building expansion at North Idaho College. Stanley is an architect with experience in project planning, design and construction administration. Her work has included District On The River Housing Development, Spokane, Riverstone Transit Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and the new Ridgeline High School for Central Valley School District. Elms is an architect with 40 years of experience and a background using ALSC's 3-D printers and laser cutter to create models and signage. His work has included Ridgeline High School, the Doris Morrison Learning Center for Spokane County and the Yakima Convention Center expansion. ALSC provides planning and design services.

In Seattle, PCS Structural Solutions hired Joe Jesse as a design engineer. In Tacoma, the firm hired Leah Cate as a project manager and Huiyao Huang and Kellie Filips as project engineers. In Portland, it hired Annabel Shephard as a design engineer. Jesse holds a master's in civil engineering from the University of Washington and is working on houses in San Juan County and Medina. Cate holds bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the UW and is working on the PeaceHealth Emergency Department expansion in Vancouver and Northwest Kidney Centers clinics in Panther Lake and Port Angeles. Huang has a master's in civil engineering from UCLA and previous experience with a Los Angeles-based firm. Huang is working on a four-story apartment complex and a four-story mix-used building in downtown Olympia. Filips holds a master's in structural engineering from Seattle University and is working on the Oakville Elementary School replacement and houses in Washington. Shephard holds a master's in civil engineering and wood science from Oregon State University. She is working on Providence St. Peter Hospital cooling tower replacement in Olympia and Sultan Transportation Facility in Sultan. PCS is a structural engineering firm.

Catherine Hovell, Ph.D. joined HNTB as senior project manager and associate vice president in the Northwest division. Hovell has over a decade of design and project delivery experience. She is based in the Bellevue office and supports the pursuit and delivery of major design-build transportation projects in the region. Previously, Hovell worked for another consulting firm in project management, geographic leadership and bridge design, specializing in design-build delivery including projects for the Washington State Department of Transportation and Sound Transit. Pulvino has almost 20 years of experience designing, managing and executing environmental compliance, due diligence and remediation projects. Behm has more than 15 years of experience operating in the engineering consulting and public agency space. Menken is a senior project manager with 20 years of experience in planning, implementation and oversight of environmental investigations and remedial activities at state and federal sites. Ciani has provided geotechnical engineering services for 14 years in the Pacific Northwest, focusing on project management, design-build project delivery, construction monitoring, explorations and design. Landau provides environmental, geotechnical and permitting and compliance services.
