In Mountlake Terrace, Terracon Consultants hired James Kohn as a field geologist, Garrett Pittis as an environmental technician, Ashley Arthur as an environmental intern and Zachary Butters and Jacob Iverson as field scientists. They are in the environmental department. Kohn holds a bachelor's degree in earth and space science with a concentration in geology from the University of Washington. He is conducting Phase I and II environmental site assessments. Pittis has a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from Central Washington University, specializing in environmental policy. He is doing CESL compliance and monitoring dewatering at construction sites.

Arthur is completing an environmental science degree at Western Washington University. She is working on Phase I environmental site assessments for commercial properties. Butters has a bachelor's degree in environmental science. He is doing Phase I and II environmental site assessments for cell tower sites, as well as retail and commercial sites. Iverson has a bachelor's in chemistry from Kansas State University. He is doing investigations for asbestos, lead, mercury and PCBs for the city of Everett and higher education facilities. Terracon, a geotechnical engineering, environmental and materials testing firm, has over 140 offices nationwide.

In Seattle, Sazan Environmental Services hired Shane Doig as commissioning project manager. Doig has over 15 years of experience with a strong focus on diagnostics, design reviews, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and building envelopes. Sazan helps optimize building design and performance through third-party review services.

HNTB Corp.

Jason Yunlong Liu, Ph.D., has returned to HNTB Corp. as senior technical advisor in the Seattle tunnel ventilation and fire life safety engineering group. Based in the Bellevue office, he delivers tunnel ventilation engineering design and analysis in the U.S. Liu worked with HNTB on Seattle-area projects between 2011-2016 and has over 20 years of industry experience. He has led the concept design of tunnel ventilation systems and done ventilation and fire safety design for road and railway tunnels. He has contributed to over 100 infrastructure, commercial, industrial and residential developments, including abroad. His Seattle work includes the detailed design of the SR 99 tunnel ventilation and fire engineering. HNTB is an infrastructure firm.

In Bellevue, Freiheit Architecture hired Sarah Werner as an architectural designer and Kerrie Lane and Brooke Jolitz as interior designers. Werner has 13 years of experience in architecture and is working on private sector projects, including tenant improvements and yield studies. Lane has 13 years of experience in interior design with a focus in hospitality and is working on commercial projects including health care, retail and hospitality. Jolitz has six years of experience in interior design with a focus in educational facilities and is working on medical office and dental projects. Freiheit is a commercial architecture and interior design firm.

Doug Kasman rejoined ALSC Architects of Spokane as a specification writer. Kasman has over 30 years of industry experience. Most recently, he ran a bed-and-breakfast on San Juan Island for several years. ALSC provides planning and design services.

Aegis Engineering

Lilly

Mukilteo-based Aegis Engineering hired Grant Lilly as a fire protection associate. He has a bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering from the University of Maryland and is licensed as an engineer in training. Aegis provides fire protection engineering and building code consulting.

Visit Spokane

Minor

Visit Spokane hired Kyle Minor as a director of national accounts. Minor was senior manager of citywide convention sales at Destination Cleveland, and has worked for many years in the hospitality and convention industries. Visit Spokane markets the Spokane region as a destination for conventions and tourists.

Sound Community Bank

Erin Nicolaus joined Sound Community Bank as senior vice president of human resources and talent management. Nicolaus has over 15 years of experience in human resources, working in industries from insurance to manufacturing to banking. Seattle-based Sound Community Bank has branches in King, Pierce, Snohomish, Clallam and Jefferson counties. It is a subsidiary of Sound Financial Bancorp.

Tideworks Technology

Seattle-based Tideworks Technology entered into an agreement with Liebherr Container Cranes to offer their integrated products to marine terminal operators. Tideworks develops terminal operating system software, including equipment control systems and a data platform. Liebherr Container Cranes makes container cranes and handling equipment at its factory in Ireland. It is part of the Liebherr Group, a maker of construction and mining equipment.

U-Haul

West Coast Self Storage in Portland has become a U-Haul neighborhood dealer of rental trucks, trailers, towing equipment and moving supplies. The company is at 4970 S.E. 16th Ave. John Eisenbarth is the owner.
