Barghausen Consulting Engineers, Inc., has welcomed 16 new team members. The mix of new hires includes two administrative assistants, one architectural CAD technician, three assistant planners, six design engineers, one project engineer, one project coordinator, one HR assistant and one marketing assistant. 15 of the new employees will be working out of the Kent, Washington office with one employee working out of the Roseville, California branch office. Angelica Schattler joined the firm in January as an assistant planner. She holds a B.S. in environmental science from Oregon State University and is currently working on her master's of science at the University of Idaho. Samantha Hunter was hired in February as an assistant planner. Hunter is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Texas State University where she studied urban and regional planning, and geography. She has previous experience as an assistant planner and planning technician for the City of New Braunfels, TX.

Parker Stroble joined Barghausen in February as a design engineer. Stroble is a class of 2012 Clemson graduate with a B.S. in engineering and relocated to Washington from South Carolina. He has a four-year background as a civil designer and a design engineer, previously at SeamonWhiteside in South Carolina.

Mitchell Anderson joined the firm in February as an architectural CAD technician. Anderson graduated from Portland Community College, and previously worked as a framer for two years, and as a drafter for a small engineering firm for four years. Rigoberto Ortiz was hired in March as an HR assistant. Ortiz is a 2021 graduate with a B.A. from the University of Washington majoring in communication and minoring in music. His previous background includes working in recruiting and onboarding before joining Barghausen.

William Sullivan joined Barghausen in March as a design engineer. Sullivan received his B.S. from Rochester Institute of Technology where he studied civil engineering. He has earlier experience as a project engineer since graduating in 2020. Arnulfo Mercado was hired in April as a design engineer. Mercardo is a civil engineering 2020 graduate from the University of Washington specializing in private development. He has an earlier background at Davido Consulting Group as a civil engineer and received his EIT license in 2019.

Kali Barnes joined the Barghausen team in April as an administrative assistant working closely with the firm's residential team. Barnes has earlier experience in marketing, sales, teaching and curriculum development. She is a 2020 graduate from Seattle Pacific University with a B.A. in English literature

Snover Punia was hired in April as a design engineer, working with the commercial team on a diverse range of projects. She is a master's graduate from the University of Illinois Chicago where she studied civil engineering and environmental science. Throughout her graduate studies, Punia was involved in the Engineers without Borders – University of Illinois Chicago Chapter. Jonothan Carp joined the Barghausen team in April as a project engineer. Carp is a graduate from Saint Martin's University with a B.S. in civil engineering. He previously worked as a project engineer for AHBL Inc. and has several years of experience in the field.

Elizebeth Swing joined Barghausen's Roseville team in April as a design engineer. Swing graduated from California State University Sacramento with a B.S. in civil engineering. She recently became an EIT and has been working in land development for over five years, with experience in residential, industrial and commercial projects.

Lauren New was hired in April to the Barghausen team as a marketing assistant. New is a 2021 graduate from the University of Washington with a B.A. in communications. She is well versed in digital media and marketing. She has a background in creative services, customer service and working with small businesses. Ryan Gilmer joined Barghausen in May as a design engineer. Gilmer graduated from Seattle University in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering. He obtained his EIT certification in January 2021 and has previous background from interning and working as a design engineer at LPD Engineering PLLC.

Oliver Macpherson also joined Barghausen in May as a project coordinator. Macpherson is a graduate from Western Washington University, where he studied environmental studies and policy. His previous work experience includes working for the Washington State Department of Ecology.

Andrew Bowman was too hired in May as an assistant planner. Bowman graduated from the University of Washington where he earned a degree in business administration with a minor in data analytics. He previously worked for the Navy as a contract specialist and in the energy industry as an assistant project manager.

Runberg Architecture


Runberg Architecture Group has promoted Mathew Lipps, AIA, to principal. Lipps has 20 years of experience, with a decade at Runberg Architecture Group. His broad experience managing diverse projects has resulted in numerous award-winning, community-anchored, multifamily housing projects throughout the Puget Sound. He is currently overseeing several projects, including SPUR Apartments, 1710 12th Ave, Vivo Roy and Vivo Mercer. Previous projects include the Eleanor Apartments. Lipps currently coordinates thr teams in the construction phase and collaborates with an internal team for quality assessment/quality control. In addition, he serves as an advisor for Runberg's continuing education committee. Lipps holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington, and Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University.

Ware Malcomb


International design firm, Ware Malcomb, announced that Adam Segalla has joined the firm as studio manager, architecture in the Seattle office. In this role, Segalla will be engaged in business development, staff mentorship, and operations for the Seattle Architecture Studio and assist in growing the office's practice.

Segalla brings over 20 years of architecture and design experience to Ware Malcomb and is a licensed architect in the states of Washington and Oregon and in British Columbia, Canada. At his previous firm he served as technical director, responsible for client development, staff mentorship and assisting with QA/QC process restructuring. His skills include account building and management, project and team management, QA/QC, strategic planning, and company branding.

Segalla holds a Bachelor of Arts and Architecture from Sadna in Tel Aviv and a Bachelor of Architecture from SCI-Arc in Los Angeles. He is a 2023 Executive MBA candidate at the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. In addition, he is LEED AP BD+C certified, a WELL Accredited Professional, and a member of the planning commission for the City of Lynnwood, Washington.

Liberty Bank

Camie Tat has joined Liberty Bank as vice president and credit administrator in the bank's Bellevue office. Tat is an experienced commercial credit analyst and underwriter for business enterprises and commercial banks. In her 20 years in the financial services industry, she has managed client portfolios, conducted financial analysis and credit adjudication. As VP and credit administrator, Tat will assist the chief credit officer in maintaining the integrity of Liberty Bank's credit risk and quality standards and help streamline and oversee the credit process. Previously, Tat worked as a treasurer and risk analyst for Boeing Capital, as a commercial lending underwriter/portfolio manager at HomeStreet Bank in Seattle, and commercial credit adjudicator/analyst at RBC Financial Group in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Tat earned her advanced bachelor of arts degree in labor and workplace studies and a minor in business from University of Manitoba, Winnipeg. She served on the board of the Risk Management Association in Calgary, Canada. Liberty Bank is headquartered in Poulsbo and has an office in Bellevue.

Seattle Opera

Seattle Opera announced Michaella Calzaretta as its new chorus master and head of music staff. Calzaretta will prepare the 36-member Seattle Opera Chorus, which will be featured during the 2022/23 season in The Elixir of Love, Tristan and Isolde, Samson and Delilah in Concert, and La traviata. Additionally, Calzaretta will oversee the company's musical activities. The appointment comes after a search led by Christina Scheppelmann, Seattle Opera general director and Aren Der Hacopian, director of artistic administration & planning. Calzaretta succeeds longtime Seattle Opera chorus master John Keene, who accepted a position as chorus director at San Francisco Opera in January. Calzaretta will step into the role immediately to prepare the chorus for the company's upcoming production of The Elixir of Love, which runs August 6–20 at McCaw Hall. Calzaretta previously served as chorus master and assistant conductor at Utah Opera, where she recently completed her fifth season. She made her main stage conducting debut in October 2020 with performances of The Human Voice and Gentleman's Island. Other conducting credits include Damn Yankees and The Merry Widow with Pittsburgh Festival Opera, and Patience with the Indiana University Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Calzaretta is a doctoral candidate (ABD) in choral conducting at Indiana University, and she holds a bachelor of music in vocal performance from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, and a master of music in choral conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. 4EA Building Science






As part of restructuring and a rebrand from JRS Engineering to 4EA Building Science, the building enclosure consulting firm named five new shareholders: Clarissa Binkley, Joyce Mak, Adam Neugebauer, Caelum Roberts and Charlie Tribe. Binkley has over a decade of experience in enclosure consulting in the U.S. and Canada, and is director of the firm’s Oakland office. Mak, a project manager in Seattle, is a civil engineer specializing in building science with a focus in high-rise projects and how building components’ interaction with the environment impacts design. Neugebauer, also a project manager in Seattle, began his career in 2007 working in the Southwest on single-family homes. He later earned a master’s degree in building technology at MIT, where he researched a granulated aerogel thermal insulation system. Roberts, a building science specialist in the Seattle area, has been working in condo rehabilitation since 2005. He also has been involved in design and construction administration on reroof, reclad and repair projects. Tribe has been in construction since 2005, and was a lead carpenter before joining 4EA in 2014. The firm says his knowledge of repair and remodeling for both mixed-use multifamily and commercial rehabilitation projects has grown to expertise in the full building enclosure. 4EA specializes in design, construction and rehabilitation of building enclosures. It has offices in Seattle and Oakland, California.

Washington Trust Bank has hired Erica Slatt as vice president and Small Business Administration manager in Seattle. Slatt joins Washington Trust with more than 20 years of SBA sales and credit experience. Before joining Washington Trust, Slatt developed SBA and Paycheck Protection Program initiatives across Western Washington for First Federal and First Financial Northwest Bank. Prior to those roles, she was with KeyBank for 15 years, serving as an SBA business sales officer and an agribusiness credit officer, underwriting agribusiness and commercial and industrial loans. Washington Trust Bank is the largest independently owned full-service commercial bank in the Northwest, serving the region since 1902. Headquartered in Spokane, Washington Trust currently has 42 branches and offices in Washington, Idaho and Oregon.


Seattle-based Leafly Holdings is set to join the broad-market Russell 3000 Index at the conclusion of the 2022 Russell indexes annual reconstitution, according to a preliminary list of additions posted earlier this month. Annual Russell indexes reconstitution captures the 4,000 largest US stocks as of May 6th, ranking them by total market capitalization. Membership in the US all-cap Russell 3000 Index, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in the large-cap Russell 1000 Index or small-cap Russell 2000 Index as well as the appropriate growth and value style indexes. FTSE Russell, a global index leader that provides benchmarking, analytics and data solutions for investors worldwide, determines membership for its Russell indexes primarily by objective, market-capitalization rankings and style attributes. Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for active investment strategies.

Sounders FC

On Wednesday, Sounders FC will host the club's first-ever ‘Pups at the Pitch' event during the home match versus CF Montreal. For the first time in club history, fans can bring their dogs to join them at Lumen Field. To attend, specific Pup Pack tickets must be purchased in advance through SoundersFC.com/Pups. The deadline to buy Pup Pack tickets is 3:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday, June 28; no walk-up Pup Pack tickets will be sold, and no dogs will be admitted with any other ticket. A $50 Pup Pack ticket includes one human and one dog ticket, seated in a designated section in the upper level available only for this event. Additional human tickets for this section are available for $25. Members of the Pup Pack also receive exclusive entrance to the Pups & Pints beer garden presented by The Farmer's Dog and Michelob Ultra, which will be available in the North Plaza ahead of the day's match. Seattle Humane's MaxMobile will also be on site in the North Plaza, giving fans the chance to meet pups, pick up dog-friendly giveaways and learn more about adoptions, services and ways to get involved with Seattle Humane.
