Bellingham-based Peoples Bank hired Cliff Kraushaar and Patrick Kennedy as vice presidents and commercial banking officers. Kraushaar is working in the Mill Creek office. He has over 25 years of experience in financial services. Kennedy is based on Whidbey Island. He is a financial advisor with over 30 years of experience in commercial lending.

Here are the winners of the 30th Annual Eastside Business Awards: OfferUp, Eastside Business of the Year; Dragonchain, Eastside Small Business of the Year; Jubilee Reach, Eastside Nonprofit of the Year; and FSorb, Groundbreaker Award. The companies were recognized for their commitment to quality, community and innovation.

Adopt A Stream Foundation

On April 9, Adopt A Stream Foundation ecologists and fish habitat restoration technicians will team with 100 volunteers from Project SeaWolf to plant 1,000 small trees next to Middle Fork Quilceda Creek at Strawberry Field Park in Marysville. Much of the forested and wetland area next to the creek has been lost to development. New trees will help keep water temperature cool, filter pollutants, hold water during rainy periods and slowly release water during dry periods.

Attorney Michelle Kim Vaughan joined Seattle-based Pacifica Law Group as an associate in the litigation practice group, where she represents public, private and not-for-profit clients. Vaughan was a judicial clerk for Judge Richard A. Jones of the U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington and for Judge John W. Darrah of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois.

Fortive

Everett-based Fortive completed its acquisition of the Advanced Sterilization Products business of Ethicon, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, for $2.7 billion in cash. ASP supports healthcare facilities in the fight to protect patients against hospital-acquired infections. Fortive is a professional instruments and industrial technologies company.

Amazon

Seattle-based Amazon said it will give scholarships to 100 high school seniors from 32 states to study computer science in college. The students will get $10,000 a year over four years in the Amazon Future Engineer program. They also will get paid internships at Amazon after their freshman year of college.

In Seattle, GGLO promoted to associate Megan Altendorf, PJ Benenati, Rachel Bickel, Scott Cochran, Jarod Kurzner, Mike Moedritzer, Marit Pinkoske, Mitch Ptacek, Erin Wark and Tom Webster. Altendorf joined GGLO in 2016 and has worked on affordable housing and mixed-use projects, including Cocoon House in Everett, 87th & Greenwood in Seattle and Mariposa + F Street in Fresno, California. Benenati is a landscape architect with experience in infill redevelopment, urban parks and plazas, streetscapes, and master plans for public and private clients. Bickel has been a designer at GGLO since 2012. She has interior design experience on senior and multifamily projects. Cochran is an architect and project manager who contributes to design, code analysis, consultant coordination, plan/spec production, approvals and construction administration. Kurzner is a project architect who is especially passionate about multifamily and high-rise construction, but appreciates every design challenge, GGLO said. Moedritzer previously worked on Seattle-area federally-funded HOPE VI redevelopments, including Rainier Vista and Greenbridge, in partnership with GGLO. He's designed affordable housing for Compass Housing Alliance, Tacoma Housing Authority and DevCo Inc. He is working on an affordable housing and food bank project in the Rainier Beach area for Mt. Baker Housing Association and Rainier Valley Food Bank. Pinkoske started her interior design career at GGLO. She has worked on multifamily, affordable housing, campus and commercial office projects. Ptacek is an architect and urban planner who in 10 years of practice has gained experience in planning, urban design, educational, mixed-use, commercial, retail and industrial buildings. Wark has worked on multifamily, mixed-use and hospitality projects. Webster has over 14 years of experience in the Seattle area and has designed high-rise mixed-use projects domestically and internationally. He specializes in façade/building envelope systems.

In Hayden, Idaho, Allwest Testing & Engineering promoted Pamela DeMarcus to controller and hired Sam Sommers as engineering department manager, Jeanne Kelso as a project administrator and Jeremy Christensen as a special inspector. In Spokane, it hired Todd DeMico as a project engineer. DeMarcus started her career in accounting and has worked in human resources for the past 20 years. She has been with Allwest since 2015. Sommers will oversee geotechnical engineering projects for the Hayden office. He was a project engineer at Zipper Geo Associates in Lynnwood and has bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the University of Washington. Kelso has an associate degree in business from the University of Phoenix. She was with Trindera Engineering. Christensen has over 24 years of experience in the construction materials testing industry and holds several certifications. DeMico has a civil engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Allwest is an engineering, environmental, and construction materials testing firm.

Craft Brew Alliance

Portland-based Craft Brew Alliance hired Christine Perich as chief financial and strategy officer. Perich has over 25 years of experience in finance, operations, strategy and leadership, including 16 years at New Belgium Brewing Co. Craft Brew Alliance brews, brands and markets craft beers. Its brands include Kona Brewing Co., Redhook Brewery and Widmer Brothers Brewing.

Savitt Bruce & Willey

Attorney Steve Willey, a partner at Savitt Bruce & Willey in Seattle, was named a 2019 BTI Client Service All-Star. Willey was cited by a Fortune 500 transportation company for his contract and commercial litigation work. He also was named a BTI Client All-Star in 2015.

Municipal League

Here are the winners of the Municipal League of King County's annual Civic Awards: Jeff and Tricia Raikes, and Andrea Caupain Sanderson, Citizen of the Year; Sound Cities Association, Organization of the Year; Sen. Rebecca Saldana, Joaquin G. Avila Award; and Joseph Peha, Mary Skelton Award. The program recognizes elected officials, public employees, citizen groups, the news media and individuals who make outstanding contributions to the community and to better government. An awards ceremony will be held May 9 at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel.
