Monorail drawing
On Dec. 15, 2007, the Seattle monorail may begin whisking down Stewart Street as part of the $1.75 billion, 14-mile Green Line project. The project’s lead designer, VIA Suzuki Architects, has suggested using a two-tiered, iris-shaped column-and-guideway system that provides a narrower profile than the side-by-side system in use by the existing monorail. Construction is slated to begin in 2005. To date, no design decisions have been made. (Image courtesy of VIA Suzuki Architecture/Seattle Monorail Project)
