Jeff McClure, founding partner of Bellingham firm RMC Architects, is stepping into a new, less extensive role, as principal emeritus.
Transitioning to the new roll, McClure will be taking more time off while remaining active in the firm's marketing and presence in the Bellingham community. He will also continue to provide mentorship to the RMC team.
McClure started the firm with Bob Ross in 1986. His extensive portfolio ranges from single-family residential design to large master plans, such as a 50-acre development for the Port of Everett Marina District. Early in his career, after Bellis Fair Mall was developed and all the major retail stores exited the city, McClure became involved in the revitalization of downtown Bellingham. A significant project in this effort is MARKETplace, for which he acted as both developer and designer. MARKETplace is a mixed-use commercial/residential building that opened in 2003. McClure formerly served as president of the City Center Development Authority, which is the precursor to today's Bellingham Downtown Partnership.
More recent notable projects are Bellingham Public Schools Administrative Offices and Port of Anacortes Subarea Master Plan. He also designed Samish Commons, a mixed-use, pedestrian-oriented development that provides affordable housing for diverse populations and includes an early learning center as well as offices for the Bellingham Housing Authority. The project has won several design awards.
