Hornall Anderson

Brand design firm Hornall Anderson is opening a New York office to serve East Coast and global clients, led by Kathy Soranno. The firm was founded in 1982 in Seattle by John Hornall and current Chairman Jack Anderson, and specializes in brands, products and digital endeavors. Soranno has more than two decades of senior-level branding and design experience, most recently at Wallace Church in New York. The office will be at 200 Varick St. Hornall Anderson is a part of DAS Group of Companies, a division of Omnicom.

A Contemporary Theatre

A Contemporary Theatre said Artistic Director Kurt Beattie will retire at the end of the 2015 season and John Langs, who has been ACT's associate artistic director since 2013, will replace him. Beattie has been artistic director since 2003. He will become artistic director emeritus. Lang has worked at theatre companies across the country.

Voip-Pal.com said that due to personal reasons Dr. Thomas Sawyer has stepped down as chairman and CEO, but will remain as a director and oversee specific projects. Vice-Chairman Colin Tucker has been appointed chairman. Majority shareholder and special advisor to the board Emil Malak has been appointed to the board and named CEO. Tucker was a founding member of Orange plc, which was sold to France Telecom for $38 billion. Malak was a co-founder of Digifonica in 2003.

Betts, Patterson & Mines added five new attorneys to the firm from Seattle University School of Law. Julia J. Busono is in the Intellectual Property group. She was a patent attorney with Seed IP Law Group and Lowe Graham Jones. Curtis Chambers focuses on insurance defense litigation and practiced at a Washington insurance defense firm. Ryan Edmondson is a member of the IP group, and focuses on patent and other intellectual property litigation. Lisa Lackland focuses on complex commercial litigation, product liability, professional liability, health care and intellectual property. She was a partner at Lewis and Roca in Las Vegas. Ryan Vollans focuses on complex civil litigation, including personal injury, insurance defense, medical malpractice and products liability.

TIAA-CREF

TIAA-CREF is opening an office in Seattle this week at 617 Eastlake Ave. E. and in Bellevue at 188 106th Avenue N.E., Suite 210. The financial services organization said in a press release it is expanding nationwide from 72 offices at the beginning of 2012 to more than 120 offices at the end of this year. TIAA-CREF has $840 billion in assets under management and provides retirement services in academic, medical and cultural fields.
