Seattle-based Digital Fortress leased the entire Rackhouse Seattle data center in Lynnwood from Lincoln Rackhouse. Digital Fortress is a privately held data center colocation company with two other data centers in the Seattle area. Lincoln Rackhouse is the data center division of Lincoln Property Co.
NextScan and ST Imaging, divisions of Digital Check, relocated their facilities to a larger building in Meridian, Idaho. The new space doubles both the manufacturing and office areas, providing room for additional growth for the companies that develop microfilm scanning equipment.

Kirkland-based Echodyne, a manufacturer of 3D radar systems, brought in $20 million in additional investment financing from Bill Gates, Madrona Ventures, NEA, Vulcan Capital and Lux Capital. Joining those previous investors is Vanedge Capital, whose managing partner Moe Kermani will be added to Echodyne's board.
Alaska Airlines is aiming to reduce single-use plastics on its flights with its #FillBeforeYouFly initiative, which encourages flyers to bring their own water bottles and fill them before boarding. The airline's goal is to reduce inflight waste going to landfills by 70% per passenger by 2020.
In Seattle, Pemco Mutual Insurance organized 34 local businesses to donate school supplies for local homeless and underserved youth. The effort netted more than 195,000 individual school supplies for over 8,700 students who attend Seattle Public Schools. That was nearly double last year's collection.

The Federal Trade Commission gave Rosemont, Illinois-based US Foods conditional approval to acquire five operating companies of Services Group of America for $1.8 billion in cash. The five companies are Food Services of America, Systems Services of America, Amerifresh, Ameristar Meats and GAMPAC Express. As a condition for regulatory clearance, US Foods will divest three FSA distribution facilities in Kent; Meridian, Idaho; and Fargo, North Dakota. US Foods said it will retain a portion of the business serviced from the Kent facility.
Phoenix-based Shamrock Foods acquired the Meridian, Idaho, operations of Food Services of America. The deal was possible after the FTC conditionally approved US Foods' acquisition of five Services Group of America companies. The US Foods' deal required it to divest FSA's Idaho operation. Shamrock distributes food throughout the western U.S.

Dominic Woolery joined Carney Badley Spellman in Seattle as an associate attorney. Woolery was a summer associate at the firm last year.
Seattle Art Museum and the Betty Bowen Committee picked Seattle filmmaker Lynne Siefert as the winner of the 2019 Betty Bowen Award. Siefert gets $15,000 and a solo exhibition at SAM next spring. Anthony White of Seattle won the Kayla Skinner Special Recognition Award and Andrea Joyce Heimer of Ferndale won the Special Recognition Award.
Aspen Dental opened an office at 532 Pole Line Road in Twins Falls, Idaho. Dr. Omid Gilani leads the practice that provides a range of dental services, including dentures, preventive care and restoration. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says there is a shortage of dentists in Twin Falls County, where the new clinic is located.
