Ashbaugh Beal

Peppin

Logan Peppin joined Ashbaugh Beal as an associate and is practicing in the firm's litigation groups. Peppin received her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law.

Bluebird Bio

Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Bluebird Bio appointed Dr. William R. Sellers to its board. Sellers is a professor of medicine at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. Bluebird develops gene therapies for severe genetic diseases and cancer. It has additional “nests” in Seattle and Durham, North Carolina, as well as Switzerland.

Slalom

Seattle-based consulting firm Slalom opened an office in Miami and is planning several more across Florida over the next two years — in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Orlando and Jacksonville. Those new offices are expected to employ over 600 people. Beau Williamson is the general manager for Florida. Slalom focuses on strategy, technology and business transformation. It has 31 offices in the U.S., Canada and U.K.

City of Tacoma

The Tacoma City Council has five openings on its Citizen Police Advisory Committee. The openings are for one at-large position, one youth position and one position each for residents of council districts 1, 4 and 5. The committee provides recommendations about Tacoma Police Department policy to the City Council. Adaptiva

In Kirkland, Adaptiva hired Jeff Harrell as vice president of marketing. Harrell has over 20 years of tech marketing experience, with stints at software developers Zettaset, Redbooth/AeroFS and Norse. Adaptiva develops IT security solutions.

City of Tacoma

The Tacoma City Council is looking to fill positions on its Landmarks Preservation Commission. The positions include: architect, professional (two openings), at-large (city resident), Wedge Neighborhood ex officio (non-voting) and North Slope Historic District ex officio (non-voting). Mod Pizza

Seattle-based Mod Pizza is expanding into Canada after signing a deal with V.I. Pizza for franchise development rights of five restaurants on Vancouver Island. The first will open later this year in the newly developed Belmont Market shopping center in Langford. V.I. Pizza is led by food industry veterans Jim Hayden, Jeff Jefford and Ken Whitaker. Mike Yasinski, co-founder of Hudsons Canada's Pub, is also an investor. Mod Pizza has over 455 locations and is planning to open at least 20 more by year end.

Lithia Motors

Medford, Oregon-based Lithia Motors acquired Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat and Subaru dealerships in Morgantown, West Virginia. Lithia estimates the two new locations will generate about $100 million in annual revenue. The company's market strategy is to acquire strong dealerships that are underperforming relative to their potential.
