Wyoming-to-California power line starts construction as wind power concerns grow

  • Starting in late 2027, TransWest Express will move electricity 732 miles from south-central Wyoming to just outside Las Vegas.

    Heavy equipment sits at the site of a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for the TransWest Express transmission line project south of Rawlins, Wyoming. The line will move electricity from a planned 600-turbine wind farm to California. It will partly parallel the PacifiCorp Gateway West transmission system visible in the distance.
