PNE Corp.

PNE Corp. of Longview hired Nicholas Hastings as director of commercial construction. Hastings received his bachelor of science degree in construction management from Washington State University and has more than 13 yeas of direct construction-project management experience. He worked for Taisei Construction and was instrumental in the establishment of Walt Disney Imagineering's West Coast Construction Management division.

Projects that Hastings has managed include Disneyland's Toontown, Multnomah County's Inverness Jail, Clark County's 911 center, Pierce County's Ford Middle School, as well as fire stations for the cities of Oak Grove, Silverton and Scotts Mills.

Canyon Creek Cabinet

Bill Weaver, president of Canyon Creek Cabinet Co., has been appointed the company's chief executive officer and elected to the board of directors. With more than 27 years experience in the cabinet industry, Weaver was appointed president last year after serving as vice president of sales and marketing from 1995 to 1997 and as executive vice president in 1998.

Prior to joining Canyon Creek, Weaver was vice president of sales and marketing at De Wils Industries in Vancouver. Canyon Creek has tripled in size during the last four years, recently moving into a 196,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Monroe.

Lieber has been involved in public accounting and corporate finance for over 20 years. During the past five years working in PricewaterhouseCoopers' Technology Practice in San Jose and Seattle, his focus has been on software and Internet-related companies.

Nuprecon

Redmond-based Nuprecon has hired Tullus A. Gordon as chief estimator and promoted Chris Eckholm to senior estimator. Gordon has 28 years of construction experience, most recently serving as president of TAG Construction. Eckholm has been estimating at Nuprecon for the past two years and has a background in hazardous materials abatement. Nuprecon is one of the 20 largest demolition contractors in the country.

HCI

HCI Steel Building Systems, a manufacturer and designer of pre-engineered building systems, has appointed Lee Stanton as district sales manager for the Spokane regional sales office. At its headquarters in Arlington, HCI has hired Bruce Wellenbrink as a structural engineer and Blake Orr as the plant quality control manager. Stanton has a background in the metal industry and will focus his marketing efforts in Eastern Washington, Montana, Idaho and parts of Oregon and Nevada. Wellenbrink has experience in steel building design and structural steel design. Orr has a background as a quality control manager of structural steel fabrication.

Allied Construction

Keith Bjella, chief estimator and senior project manager for Allied Construction, has been selected as one of the 30 participants for the Leadership Snohomish County 2000 program. The goal of the program is to prepare and inspire an emerging generation of leaders for the county's future. The program includes a two-day retreat and seven days of classes.

Modern Building Systems

Modern Building Systems of Aumsville, Ore., recently won several awards at the annual Modular Building Institute's awards ceremony. The company won first place in the Permanent Retail & Hospitality Under 3,000 Square Feet category for a Texaco Food Mart in Salem, Ore.; honorable mention in the Permanent Factory Built Special Application category for a modular admittance office for the Oregon Youth Authority in Woodburn, Ore.; and honorable mention in the Marketing Piece Promotional Brochure category for its brochure featuring modular classrooms.
