John Salts and Ed Smith of Mayes Testing Engineers were promoted to project managers. Salts is managing several Tacoma-area projects. He has six years of testing and inspection experience, and has been with Mayes since 2007. He holds nearly every ICC and WABO license. Smith is responsible for on-site project management. He has 23 years of experience in the testing and inspection industry.

KBA Inc.

Smith

Bellevue-based KBA Inc. promoted Roger Smith to principal. Smith has 24 years of experience managing complex transit, bridge and heavy-civil projects throughout the western U.S. He was a project manager for seven years at KBA, is an Associate Value Specialist and is active with the Associated General Contractors of Washington. KBA specializes in construction management of public and private projects.

R|Miller Inc.

Bothell-based R|Miller Inc. hired Jim Rodgers as a project manager and William Fort as a project engineer. Rodgers has been a construction manager for more than 30 years, working for the federal government, Kiewit, Construction Associates and SGA Corp. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University. Fort previously worked for CH2M Hill and managed construction of a secondary school in Kenya for the nonprofit Construction-For-Change. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington.

Modern Machinery

Modern Machinery added Wirtgen concrete slipform pavers to its line of products for the road-building industry. Modern Machinery operates 11 locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Montana and Idaho, plus two in Russia. It is one of the largest Komatsu dealers in North America.

Chuck Clegern joined Express Construction Co. as manager of the Special Projects Division. Clegern has many years of experience with office, health-care, industrial, education, religious, retail and tenant-improvement projects.

ABC of Western Washington

Burman

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington hired Ashley Burman as government affairs and education manager. Burman is increasing communication with members as well as developing management classes, beginning with superintendent training. She previously worked for the Rob McKenna campaign. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from the University of Washington, where she made the dean's list and was a Golden Key International Honor Society member.

Goldfinch Bros.

Dan Bagger joined Everett-based Goldfinch Bros. as business development manager in the Residential Division, where he is focusing on architects and builders. Bagger has nearly 28 years of experience, the last 12 years at Reeb Millwork, where he oversaw Marvin and Integrity window and door sales. Prior to that, he was international sales manager for Marvin Windows and Doors, and started his career at The Evergreen Partnership wood products trade association. Goldfinch may expand its sales team as the residential construction market improves.

Washington Patriot Construction

Gig Harbor-based Washington Patriot Construction named Stirrett Johnsen as its 2012 Subcontractor of the Year. Washington Patriot says Stirrett Johnsen employees have good attitudes and high levels of integrity, plus they are opportunistic, professional, responsible, trustworthy and team players.
