Kent-based Hermanson Co. promoted Chris Gourley to director of the Special Projects Division while continuing his role as business unit leader of the Tenant Improvement Group. The company also announced new business unit leaders within the Special Projects Division: Kyle Rogers (Tech Campus Group), David Goit (Diverse Projects Group) and Ryan Leonhardt (Specialty Metals Group). Hermanson provides mechanical and plumbing construction, design-build engineering and service/maintenance.

Renton-based Rock Project Management Services hired Rusty Cutner as vice president of preconstruction services, Debbie Cook as senior project manager and Jon Rauer as chief information officer. Cutner was project director at Vanir Construction Management prior to joining RPM. Cook also came from Vanir, where she was senior project manager. Rauer was a senior consultant at Deltek. RPM provides owner's representative services to public and private clients throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska.

In Seattle, Exeltech Consulting hired Kevin Weed as director of construction management. Weed has over 28 years of experience managing the end-to-end design and construction process for transportation infrastructure projects in Washington and Oregon. Exeltech provides construction management and inspection services, civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture, and environmental permitting and analysis.

Absher Construction

Puyallup-based Absher Construction opened a satellite office in Bellevue at 146th Place Southeast and Southeast Eastgate Way, in the Cascade Yard building. The company says the new office allows it to better serve clients and projects in King County and the northern and eastern parts of the state.

In Seattle, Graham Construction & Management hired senior project coordinator Gaby Palazzolo for the First Light condo tower in Seattle, project coordinator Michael Stukenberg for the 1200 Stewart towers in Seattle and superintendent Kawika Takasaki for the Waterfront Place project in Everett. Graham builds multifamily, retail, health care, life science, education and office buildings.

In Kent, Hermanson Co. promoted Jacob Besagno to director of Owner Direct Solutions and unit leader of the team handling test and balance, controls and building commissioning. Besagno now coordinates with Dave Gough, director of service, and Chris Kettman, the newly promoted projects manager of Owner Direct Solutions. The mechanical contractor also promoted Monty Rogers to general manager of both the Special Projects Division and Owner Direct Solutions.

Associated Schools of Construction

Four Pacific Northwest universities won awards at the annual Associated Schools of Construction competition earlier this month in Nevada. For Region 6 schools, Boise State University was third in the Commercial category. For Region 7, Washington State University was third in Commercial. In the open competition, the University of Washington was second in Sustainable Building, WSU was third in Virtual Design and Construction, and Oregon State University was third in Electrical.

Vancouver, B.C.-based equipment auctioneer Ritchie Bros. launched an appraisal service that complies with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, with appraisals managed and reviewed by certified appraisers. The new service is called Ritchie Bros. Appraisal Services.
