Seattle SDCI

Jala

Mow

The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections hired Kai Ki Mow as principal engineer and promoted Ardel Jala to building official. Mow will provide technical leadership for engineering-related portions of Seattle's building codes, as well as leadership for SDCI's Emergency Response program. He has seven years of engineering plan review experience with the city of Bellevue and 13 years of engineering design experience prior to that. He also is a registered civil and structural engineer. Jala will provide technical leadership for the portions of Seattle's building codes not directly related to engineering. She has been with SDCI for nine years, most recently as an engineering and technical codes manager. Prior to joining the city, she spent over 15 years in design and project management for local engineering firms. She also is a registered civil engineer. Both will start their new roles on Wednesday. They will replace Jonathan Siu, who will retire in October after 20 years as principal engineer and building official.

WSP USA

Peduzzi

As part of its expansion of its alternative delivery programs, WSP USA promoted Jacqueline Peduzzi to alternative delivery leader for the West region. In her new role, Peduzzi is leading the selection of contractors and concessionaires, and managing the relationship with these partners in Alaska, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. She is involved throughout the project life cycle, including teaming and agreement/terms, addressing issues of concern, and other matters needed for project completion. She was vice president and area manager for construction services in Denver, and has nearly 20 years of transportation and construction management experience.

Viewpoint

Portland-based Viewpoint entered into a strategic integration relationship with LaborChart of Overland Park, Kansas. The integration merges two systems and their data to allow contractors to manage their accounting, projects and people from one platform. The firms say this eliminates duplicate data entry and ensures data accuracy.

Prefab Logic

Nampa, Idaho-based Prefab Logic hired Hylton Mockler as a business development leader. Mockler has over two decades of expertise in business development and process optimization in construction, design, manufacturing and management consulting. He is based in Northern California. Prefab Logic specializes in modular preconstruction consultation for high-density housing and hospitality projects.

Skanska

Construction giant Skanska is holding its annual Bricks & Books fundraising event online this year due to the pandemic. The now month-long event benefits Seattle nonprofit Rainier Scholars, which provides low-income students of color with equitable access to a quality education. Last year's auction raised $287,000 for Rainier Scholars and Skanska has raised over $1 million through Bricks & Books over eight years. This year's campaign runs through Sept. 4. VECA Electric & Technologies

Boeing awarded VECA Electric & Technologies with a 2019 Supplier of the Year award for safety. Boeing selected 10 companies from over 12,000 suppliers to recognize them for high-quality products, services and value. VECA is based in Seattle with branches in Bellingham, Everett, Mukilteo and Wenatchee.

Hanford Site

The Green Electronics Council and managers of the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool recognized Department of Energy offices and several Hanford Site contractors for their efforts to purchase products that protect the environment, conserve energy and reduce costs. The contractors included CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Co., HPMC Occupational Medical Services, Mission Support Alliance, Washington River Protection Solutions and Wastren Advantage. This is the first year that DOE has won the award and the fourth straight year that the contracting team has won it.
