Murdoch

In Seattle, PCL Construction Services promoted Christopher Murdoch to chief estimator for projects in the Pacific Northwest. Murdoch has worked on many local projects, including the Olympic Tower, Cielo apartments and numerous improvements at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. He also was lead estimator on the Locomotive Service Facility at the Amtrak Seattle King Street Coach Yard. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington.

Trico Companies

Norton

Burlington-based Trico Companies hired Greg Norton as service manager of its newly formed Service Division. Norton has over 15 years of experience in project management, including full-scope residential/commercial construction and service work. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in justice studies from Southern New Hampshire University. He is an Army veteran and spent just over 30 years in federal law enforcement and intelligence programs, overseeing a program to design, procure and install security measures as part of a global anti-terrorism/mitigation program.

UMC

Gough

Dave Gough joined UMC as operations manager for field and office staff associated with UMC's Facility Services Group. Gough is helping streamline UMC's processes and support for anticipated growth in the FSG. He has 37 years of industry experience, including leadership positions at his prior companies, one being the largest mechanical service provider in the Pacific Northwest. He also was on the Washington State Electrical Board, was past president of SMACNA Western Washington, and has served on several other industry boards and committees. UMC is a mechanical engineering, facilities maintenance and construction company.

In Tacoma, Korsmo Construction hired Bill Haider and John Julius Muwulya as project managers; and Laurel Franklin and Chris Ohlinger as project engineers. Haider and Muwulya have expertise in a range of markets, including multifamily housing and educational facilities. Franklin and Ohlinger are focusing on the health care and tribal markets. Korsmo has been a general contractor since 1948.

Hanford Mission Integration Solutions

The Department of Energy recently bestowed the 2021 Classification Award of Excellence to LaMont Schofield, classified material expert and information security manager for Hanford Mission Integration Solutions. Schofield led two high-impact projects that will result in a large reduction of classified documents, improved processes and quality control, and cost savings for the Hanford Site.

Garco Construction

Spokane-based Garco Construction was ranked as the 357th largest contractor in the United States by Engineering News-Record. The company moved up nine spots from its 2020 ranking. Rankings are based on revenues from construction contracts, the construction portion of design-build contracts and construction management work that involves financial risk equivalent to that of a general contractor. Garco has been operating since 1978 and also has a Tacoma office.

APA

APA — The Engineered Wood Association announced the winners of its 2020 Safety and Health Awards, which honor companies in the structural panel and engineered wood industry. Winners from the Pacific Northwest included: Spokane-based PotlatchDeltic for Safest Company Award (Three or Fewer Mills), 1st Place Safety and Health Award/Division I (St. Maries, Idaho, mill), and Safety Improvement Award/Division I (St. Maries, Idaho, mill); Murphy Plywood Co. for 2nd Place Safety and Health Award/Division I (Rogue River, Oregon, mill); and Boise Cascade Co. for 3-Year Safety Award/Division III (White City, Oregon, mill). Tacoma-based APA represents about 175 lumber mills throughout North America.
