April 1, 2026
Seattle-based architect and mass timber pioneer Susan H. Jones is giving a talk April 9 to celebrate the release of her new book, Light on Wood.
Jones will be well known to DJC readers as the founder of Seattle architecture firm atelierjones. The firm was established over 20 years ago and is internationally recognized for its leadership in mass timber design and research.
Light on Wood was released in January. The book explores wood as both a traditional and forward-looking material.
Jones will use the talk to reflect on her personal and professional journey behind designing and building with mass timber and share how the material has reshaped not only her practice, but the future of the built environment. She will highlight award-winning projects including CLT House, which was one of the first completed cross-laminated timber homes in the United States.
The talk is at the Seattle Central Library (1000 Fourth Ave.)
Doors open at 5 p.m. The program begins at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets start at $12.51 and are available at https://tinyurl.com/SusanJonesTalk.
Space.City is hosting the event.
A post talk happy hour and book signing will follow at The Shop – LMN Architects (723 First Ave.)
