Skagit County offers $85M budget for 2026

MOUNT VERNON — Skagit County has published its preliminary 2026 budget online, including $84.6 million in general fund expenses and general fund revenues of $73.6 million, using $10.9 million of reserve spending to adopt a balanced budget.

The county commissioners warned earlier this fall of a potential $19 million deficit in the general fund, stemming primarily from increased operating and salary cost; flattening and slowing revenues; and additional mandated county services by the state and federal government.
