Local governments win state grants to speed housing permitting

    The city of Bellevue ran a pilot last year using AI to help applicants and staff access accurate permitting information more quickly.

    Pierce County and the cities of Bellevue, Tacoma, Tumwater and Lacey are among eight local governments getting grants from the state to expedite permitting with technology upgrades.
