New I-5 HOV lanes open in DuPont

DUPONT, Pierce County — New HOV lanes are opening in the coming weeks in DuPont as crews with Washington State Department of Transportation contractor Guy F. Atkinson Construction finalize work on the $240 million I-5 Mounts Road to Steilacoom-DuPont Road Corridor Improvements project.

The work centers around rebuilding the Exit 119 interchange as a diverging diamond interchange running over the new overpass that's been under construction for the past year. Work also includes building the new roundabout at Steilacoom-DuPont Road and extending the I-5 HOV lanes to Mounts Road.
