NEW YORK — Timing is everything when trading stocks or other financial instruments. For some investors, though, having what looks to be inside information is giving them the upper hand in today's buyout-crazed market.
How else to read the unusual trading in stock and options ahead of takeover deals in recent months? The scenario often goes like this: A surge in money flows in right before a bid is announced, allowing those investors to profit big once stocks surge on the news.
