Jason Kettrick was elected chair of Carney Badley Spellman's Construction Department. Kettrick focuses his legal practice in construction, development and energy.
James M. Davis joined Perkins Coie's Insurance Recovery practice as a partner. Davis advises policyholders on coverage matters, including product liability disputes, recalls and product contamination. He comes from Reed Smith, where he was deputy practice group leader of the Insurance Recovery group. At Perkins Coie, he is splitting his time between the Chicago and Seattle offices.
Dr. Anthony Todd Everhart is the new medical director at Seattle-based LabConnect, a provider of central laboratory and support services. Everhart was vice president of medical informatics at Chiltern and medical director at Clinical Trial Management Services. He spent more than 11 years in clinical development, including medical monitoring and data review for complex studies.
Kidder Mathews brokers Jason Rosauer and Rob Anderson were named top brokers by industry annal Connect Media. They're among 10 national winners of the same honor. Together, says KM, they did almost 1.2 million square feet in deals last year, in all investment categories of real estate. Among them, KM cited the 3.2-acre Belshaw Assemblage in the Rainier Valley, sold for almost $20 million, where Grand Street Commons is being planned on the partially polluted site. It could eventually have up to 700 units near the future Judkins Park Station.
At NAIOP's April breakfast, Tod Leiweke of NHL Seattle will provide a comprehensive update on the recently begun KeyArena renovation. That $800 million job should be completed by 2021, when our unnamed new hockey franchise should be up and skating. He'll also share info on the planned NHL practice facility at the heart of the Northgate Mall renovation. The event takes place at 7 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the Four Seasons (99 Union St.). In Seattle, Parametrix hired John Phillips as director of integrated watershed management. Phillips will assist clients in identifying and developing solutions for combined and sanitary sewer overflows to meet consent decree and discharge standards. He has 20 years of experience in environmental sciences and natural resources, including most recently as combined sewer overflow program manager with King County, where he oversaw a pilot program to test new technology for wet weather treatment. Parametrix provides engineering, planning and environmental sciences.
Seattle-based Hart Crowser named Loren Sokolow and Doug Lindquist to its board of directors. Sokolow has four decades of experience as a financial and operations executive. He is chief financial officer at Psomas, where he is responsible for all financial management, including accounting, financial planning and cash management. Lindquist is a geotechnical and seismic engineer who has been with the firm for 20 years. He has a background in performance-based seismic design, a type of earthquake analysis commonly used for tall buildings and waterfront structures. Hart Crowser provides geotechnical engineering, environmental science and engineering, stormwater services and disaster resilience.
GGLO promoted Kevin Reed and Don Vehige in its Seattle office to principal. Reed joined the firm in 2006 and is a project architect, project manager and digital technology lead. He holds a bachelor of architecture degree from Virginia Tech. Vehige was hired in 2000 and leads urban design projects. He has done master planning for mixed-use communities, programming, charrette facilitation and streetscape and housing design. He has a bachelor of architecture from the University of Minnesota and a master of landscape architecture from the University of California Berkeley.
Mahlum promoted Niki Lesko to principal, Becky Hutchinson and Stacey Crumbaker to associate principal and Laura Poulin to associate. Lesko is director of marketing. She has 20 years of experience in marketing and business development for professional services. Hutchinson is a project architect and manager with educational clients from Boston to Seattle. She has a master of architecture from Harvard's Graduate School of Design. Crumbaker holds a bachelor's in interior design and a master of architecture from Arizona State University and practices at the intersection of architecture and interiors. Poulin has been with Mahlum for over five years and works on educational spaces. She has a master of architecture from the University of Washington. Lesko works in Seattle and Portland, and the rest are based in Seattle. Mahlum specializes in health care, student housing and education.
Salas O'Brien promoted architect Karoline Derse in its Seattle office to vice president. Derse has worked with some of the firm's largest national clients in technology, telecommunications and retail for the past 15 years. She has been a project manager and account manager for several high-profile clients of the facility planning, design, construction management and commissioning firm.
In Seattle, Elliott Bay Design Group hired Matt Nani as a project manager responsible for the initiation, management and execution of diverse projects. Nani has 11 years of experience in the marine industry, including work with an operator, class society and consulting firm. He has a background in structural design and assessment, hydrodynamic and vessel motions assessments, and stability analyses. EBDG provides naval architecture, marine engineering and production support services.
Devayn Henning joined PBS Engineering and Environmental as a civil engineer in its Issaquah office. She has a bachelor's in civil engineering from Washington State University, where she focused on water resources, and spent a summer as a lab technician at Kaiser Aluminum.
Allwest Testing & Engineering promoted Marvin Kerb to vice president of professional services. Kerbs supervises area managers for its five offices in Idaho, Washington and Montana, and oversees internal training. He was area manager for the Meridian, Idaho, office, and has over 40 years of experience. He has been principal owner of a civil engineering firm and a materials testing and geotechnical engineering firm. Allwest is an engineering, environmental, and construction materials testing firm.
Seattle-based Evolution Architecture promoted Maria D'Ambrosio and Jesse Roark to associate partner. D'Ambrosio is an architect and Roark is a field technician. The firm specializes in building envelope waterproofing design and project management.
In Spokane, Clearwater Paper hired Robert Hrivnak as senior vice president of finance and CFO. Hrivnak was chief accounting executive, vice president and controller at tech company Itron. Prior to that, he held financial and accounting positions at Education Management Corp., Fluor, Tyco International and Honda Motor Co. He starts his new job April 8, replacing John D. Hertz. Clearwater supplies private-label tissue to major retailers and wholesale distributors, and produces bleached paperboard.
Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank completed its purchase of the San Marcos, California, branch of Silvergate Bank. The deal included certain commercial loans and the hiring of Silvergate's business lending team, including branch manager Christian Weissmann. HomeStreet now has five branches in San Diego County.
Washington State Department of Transportation selected Kelly Gregory and Mary Welcome as artists-in-residence. Their one-year terms start in July in Olympia. Gregory is an itinerant social architect based on the coast. Welcome lives in the Palouse and collaborates with rural communities. They will propose projects to advance WSDOT's strategic plan of inclusion, practical solutions and workforce development.
