State of Washington

Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Kelly Fukai to serve on the state Transportation Commission. Fukai is manager of public and external affairs at Spokane International Airport, and has over 20 years of experience developing plans and policies that grow infrastructure, enhance economic and workforce development, and support community interests. She is serving a six-year term on the commission and replaces Joe Tortorelli, who served two terms.

Smarsh

In Portland, Smarsh hired Barry Allen as CFO and promoted Suzanne Rudnitzki to COO. Allen previously was CFO of Jama Software in Portland, where he helped shift that company to a software-as-a-service enterprise. Prior to that, he held roles of CFO, COO and president at advertising and licensing company Corbis. Rudnitzki joined Smarsh in 2018 as the company's first chief people officer. In her new role, she leads the legal and information security, human resources, management information systems, diversity and inclusion, and facilities teams. Prior to joining Smarsh, she was senior vice president of human resources at Telecare. Smarsh archives electronic communications for regulated organizations, including banks and government agencies.

Nautilus

Vancouver fitness equipment manufacturer Nautilus plans to sell its Octane Fitness line so it can focus solely on the home fitness equipment market. Octane Fitness customers are primarily health clubs, professional sports teams, colleges and universities, municipalities and corporations. Nautilus has retained investment banker William Blair as its adviser for the potential transaction.

Imagine Housing

In Kirkland, Imagine Housing is sponsoring an emergency rental assistance fund to help its residents who are unable to pay rent due to financial hardship related to the pandemic. The nonprofit provider of affordable rental homes and social services in east King County allocated $100,000 to start the fund, with the aim of seeking additional outside donations. Eastside Legal Assistance Program is administering the fund.

Darigold

Seattle-based Darigold and the Northwest Dairy Association announced a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. They plan to reach that goal by investing in renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency, promoting farm-level carbon sequestration projects, and modernizing the processing and transportation network. They had previously announced a goal to reduce carbon emissions 20%-30% by 2030. Darigold is the marketing and processing subsidiary of Northwest Dairy Association, which is a co-op owned by over 430 dairy farms.

Molina Healthcare

Bothell-based Molina Healthcare of Washington is committing $15 million to support its primary care and substance use disorder providers across the state. The support comes of the heels of Molina's recently announced $1 million COVID-19 community response plan, which helps local communities and organizations affected by the pandemic. Molina provides government-funded care for low-income individuals through Medicaid, Medicare and the Health Benefit Exchange programs.

Clark Barnes

Garkel

Seattle-based architecture and interior design firm Clark Barnes promoted Lauren Garkel to partner. Garkel has been with the firm for over 12 years, where she has worked on commercial, multifamily and hospitality projects. Her passion for sustainable design propelled the firm to enter the mass timber sector. Garkel's current work includes an eight-story cross-laminated timber hotel in Ballard and the 18-story Akari House on First Hill, which is set to be the largest mass timber building in the Pacific Northwest.

PCS Structural Solutions

O'Loughlin

In Tacoma, PCS Structural Solutions promoted Caitlin O'Loughlin to project manager. O'Loughlin joined PCS in 2019 with four years of engineering experience and has a keen attention to detail. O'Loughlin is working on the hotel tower for the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, several mixed-use projects in Olympia and a remodel of a church in Lacey, and is a leader of PCS's diversity, equity and inclusion team. PCS Structural Solutions is a 75-person structural engineering firm with offices also in Seattle and Portland.

HNTB Corp.

Phillips

In Bellevue, Gordon Phillips rejoined HNTB Corp.'s architecture practice as aviation project director. Phillips delivers significant design projects for aviation clients, including Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. He is an architect and engineer with over three decades of experience in planning, design and implementation of aviation facilities in the U.S., Europe and Asia. His recent work has focused on planning, design and construction administration of airport terminals in a technical capacity and a managerial role. Previously, as design manager for another consulting firm, he worked with staff at Sea-Tac on large infrastructure improvements. He was an HNTB project director from 2009 to 2013, leading aviation projects, including the Terminal 2 West “Green Build” expansion at San Diego International Airport. HNTB is an infrastructure firm.

Bassetti Architects

Park

In Seattle, Bassetti Architects promoted Mariko Park to senior associate and Tegan Hill to associate. Park has over 14 years of experience providing interior design and furniture, furnishings and equipment services, specializing in large complex projects in the Pacific Northwest and Mountain regions. She has been instrumental in the growth of Bassetti's interior design department over the past seven years. She is pursuing a master's in historic preservation at Boston Architectural College while leading interior design efforts on Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland, Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham and a tenant improvement in the Pioneer Square neighborhood. Hill has two years of experience in business development and marketing for Bassetti, initially as senior marketing coordinator, and more recently as marketing director. In that role, she will leverage her 16 years of experience in the industry to continue managing firm-wide marketing activities.
