Jackson Main Architecture has welcomed Kelly Kelley-Horne as the firms' marketing and business development manager. Formerly with The Riley Group, Inc., she brings her established A/E/C industry ability to lead and manage JMA's strategic partnerships and marketing program efforts. Kelley-Horne received her BA in Communications from CSUB, where her concentrations focused on both public relations and marketing.

Park

Lund Opsahl has added three new team members: design engineers Hanna Park and Eusonh Lim, and senior CAD/BIM technician Whitney Huse.

Park has five years experience in commercial, K-12 and higher education, residential, and healthcare sectors. Her most recent work at Lund Opsahl includes single and multi-family residences, improvements at Lower Columbia College in Longview, a new mixed-use building in Eastern Washington, and a significant tenant improvement for a confidential client in Des Moines. Park received her bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering from The George Washington University in Washington DC.

Lim possesses five years of professional experience, with work that includes projects in the aviation, commercial, healthcare, civic, hospitality, and residential sectors. His most recent projects include several luxury residences, a transit-oriented multi-family development in Shoreline, and a project at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil and structural engineering from the University of Washington.

Huse has nine years of experience, with sector work in mixed use, transit, healthcare, civic, commercial, higher education, and single and multi-family residences. Her construction materials experience includes cast in place and P/T concrete, Cobiax, ICF, CMU masonry, brick masonry, SIPS, steel, composite lumber, stick-built, timber, cold formed framing, and rammed-earth. Huse received her bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and Media Arts with a concentration in 3D Modeling from Southern New Hampshire University and an associate degree in Architectural and Engineering Design from Southern Maine Community College.

MG2 announced the promotion of Roy Hague, Amy Hart, and Mitch Pride to principal in the Seattle office.

Hague NCARB, LEED AP, is the principal in charge of the Program Design studio, focusing on designing creative prototypes for established and emerging markets, including the electric vehicle and e-commerce sectors. With 20+ years in the profession, he utilizes a comprehensive and methodological approach to solving design challenges. Hague earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington.

Hart is a principal in the Client Programs studio in Seattle with a focus on Costco Business Centers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. With more than 15 years in the profession, she is a results-oriented designer who is continually refining her approach and searching for efficiencies across design process, budget, and delivery. Hart earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Idaho.

Pride RA is a principal in the Consumer Experiences studio, responsible for resourcefully turning complex retail concepts into solutions that excite and engage the consumer. His extensive portfolio includes Hush Puppies, Brilliant Earth, Tommy Bahama, and Allen Edmonds. Pride earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Architecture from Cornell University. He has been honored with multiple awards including VMSD's Designer Dozen, design: retail's 40 Under 40, PAVE's Rising Star, and CenterBuild's Leaders Under 40.

David E. Eckmann, SE, PE, FAIA, has been named president of Magnusson Klemencic Associates. Since joining the firm in 2005, Eckmann has represented MKA on over 160 projects — 100 of which he served in a leadership role. In addition to his new role as president, Eckmann is the managing principal of the firm's Chicago office and serves on MKA's board of directors.

His portfolio of work can be seen across the United States. Notable projects in the Midwest include Aqua Tower, River Point Tower, Salesforce Tower, Wolf Point East, City Hyde Park, Lincoln Park Zoo Education Pavilion, Wabash Building at Roosevelt University, The University of Chicago's Gerald Ratner Athletics Center, and O'Hare International Terminal 5 in Chicago.

In addition, Eckmann led the structural design for the American headquarters of CoStar and Dominion Energy in Richmond, Virginia; the Mutual of Omaha and Applied Underwriters headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska; Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and McDonald's headquarters in Chicago, Illinois; Northwestern Mutual Life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Epic Systems' 800-acre campus in Verona, Wisconsin.

His projects have earned awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies, American Institute of Architects, American Institute of Steel Construction, American Society of Civil Engineers, Architectural Record, Building Design+Construction, Engineering News-Record, Structural Engineers Association of Illinois, Urban Land Institute, and other organizations.

PACE Engineers has a new executive leadership team. Martin Penhallegon, PE, is now CEO and Ken Nilsen, PE, is now president. Phil Cheesman, PE, is now executive vice president and Jon Turcott, PE, is now vice president. Together, they will oversee all work of the four PACE offices, including 135 staff members.

After graduating from the University of Washington in 1971, Penhallegon spent his first 21 years at a Seattle-based civil engineering company, where he progressed to president and CEO. In 1992, he left that company and founded PACE. Under his leadership, PACE has acquired eight firms and was voted one of Zweig's Best Places to Work. In Penhallegon's role as CEO, he will oversee long-term planning (including future acquisitions) and the overall financial performance of PACE.

Nilsen joined PACE 25 years ago where he quickly became a firm leader. Prior to PACE he was a pioneer in developing King County's Surface Water program. Nilsen has more than 39 years of industry experience and has held many roles at PACE, most recently as executive vice president. He specializes in solving complex stormwater and surface water challenges and is known for his ability to understand how new and rehabilitated infrastructure and facilities fit into the built environment. As president, Nilsen will oversee the overall operations of PACE.

Cheesman joined PACE in the first weeks of Penhallegon opening its doors 30 years ago. He started the land development department which today is diverse and regionally recognized for its land development solutions. Cheesman transitioned to oversee all of civil engineering at PACE five years ago. In his development-focused career, he has specialized in the civil design of commercial business parks, K12 schools, and parks and trails. Cheesman has taken on a new role as executive vice president, focusing on collaboration between PACE's four offices and multiple disciplines.

Turcott has over 25 years of civil engineering experience. He joined PACE four years ago with the acquisition of Site Development Associates (SDA). His most recent experience is managing highly collaborative design-build projects. At age 27, Turcott co-founded SDA, a civil engineering firm which PACE acquired in 2019. He is a mentor to young engineers and has focused expertise in stormwater management, utility design, and culvert and fish passage design. Turcott has a track record of solving insurmountable engineering problems to the direct benefit of clients, the public, and the environment, including pushing the state of science in habitat restoration. As vice president, Turcott will lead PACE's Civil Engineering Department.

Colin Owen, a professional landscape architect with SCJ Alliance, is now an International Society of Arboriculture-certified arborist.

Owen has a Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Georgia and is also a Master Gardener. His 15 years of experience includes fieldwork assessing tree species and vegetation conditions, creating landscape architecture designs, and designing landscape mitigation plans, from stream restoration plantings to native vegetation replacement.

To earn this credential from the ISA, Owen had to demonstrate his knowledge in all aspects of arboriculture, have a related degree and years of work experience, and take a comprehensive final certification exam.

Issaquah-based Habit Design was awarded the People's Choice Innovation Award by the majority of voting attendees at the 2023 American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions & Expo. Habit Design becomes the first habit coaching company to receive this award, and will be showcased again at next year's ACA conference in Atlanta. In partnership with NIH's National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the University of Washington, TriHealth and MultiCare, Habit Design was lauded for preliminary results of the Phase II clinical trial of its A.I.-enhanced, habit coaching system, including accelerating the time to create an automatic habit from at least 66 days (the previous clinically validated benchmark) to just 6 days, on average. Michael Kim is the founder & CEO of Habit Design and the principal investigator of the research project. Founded by clinical psychologists & scientists from Harvard, Yale, Stanford Medical School, and the University of Washington, Habit Design customizes twenty, clinically validated habit formation techniques to each client by integrating A.I., behavioral economics, and real-time coaching taking only 1 minute a day.

Qualtrics

Qualtrics, a provider of experience management software, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Silver Lake, a global technology investor, in partnership with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), in an all-cash transaction that values Qualtrics at approximately $12.5 billion. Silver Lake and its co-investors, together with CPP Investments, will acquire 100% of the outstanding shares Silver Lake does not already own. Qualtrics will become an independent, privately held company. Qualtrics will continue to be led by CEO Zig Serafin, and the company will remain headquartered in Provo, Utah and Seattle. The transaction is fully financed by equity commitments from Silver Lake and co-investors together with $1.75 billion in equity from CPP Investments and $1 billion in debt.

Schnitzer Steel

Portland-based Schnitzer Steel Industries has been recognized by Ethisphere as one of the 2023 World's Most Ethical Companies. Schnitzer is among this year's 135 honorees spanning 19 countries and 46 industries. This is the ninth consecutive year in which Schnitzer has earned its place among Ethisphere's honorees. Ethisphere recognizes companies for supporting communities, building capable and empowered workforces, and fostering corporate cultures focused on ethics and purpose. Foster Garvey

Foster Garvey added Erin Snodgrass as of counsel in the Hospitality, Travel & Tourism group in Seattle. She represents a wide variety of businesses at all stages in development, including industry leaders and start-up companies, in the areas of hospitality, travel and technology. Prior to joining Foster Garvey, Snodgrass was a principal and co-founder of Snodgrass Annand, where she focused on technology and commercial transactions, licensing, privacy and marketing for a variety of clients with a focus on clients in the hospitality industry. She also advises clients on media/content transactions and intellectual property. She previously was an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law, where she earned her J.D. in 1998.

Forbes released its 2023 list ranking America's 100 Best Banks, and Banner Bank is 12th. This is the seventh consecutive year Banner has been included on the list and is its highest ranking yet. Based on regulatory filings through Sept. 30, 2022, Forbes looked at nine metrics based on growth, profitability, capital adequacy and asset quality. Headquartered in Walla Walla, Banner Bank is a Washington-chartered commercial bank that conducts business in Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho.
