Miracle on Third Avenue! Artist lofts planned at Gib Tower

Constructed in 1910, the eight-story building is essentially vacant above the ground floor.

At 1518 Third Ave., between Pike and Pine streets, Gibraltar Tower has been mostly vacant for some time now. The century-old downtown building has eight stories, with offices over retail. The last recorded sale was to HCP Properties, an arm of JPMorgan Chase, the prior lender. That was a foreclosure deal last year for about $3 million.
