Uncertainty in the travel industry following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks led hotel companies across the country to cancel development deals.
Locally, Marriott pulled out of a deal to buy a site that Seattle-based Touchstone Corp. had entitled for it in the Totem Lake area of Kirkland.
