Q. What did the book reviewer mean by saying that Elvis Presley had “died in very unKingly fashion”?
A. He was referring to best-selling author Mary Roach's book “Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal,” where she begins by discussing 29-year-old J.W., who was found dead on the floor of the bathroom, possibly a “defecation-associated sudden death.” By age 20, he had ballooned so much that he was hired by a freak show under the carnival name “Balloon Man.” According to the autopsy, he had been “straining at stool.”
