Washington State University said the WSU Women's Resource Center has been awarded $17,000 to help reestablish the National Education for Women's Leadership Summer Institute in Pullman. The Leadership Summer Institute is a six-day residential program that provides training to women interested in political roles and leadership positions. WSU hosted the institute until 2010 when it was cut during the economic downturn.
SmartRG, a Vancouver-based maker of managed broadband and home networking solutions for broadband service providers, said Tim Bennington-Davis has joined as vice president of engineering. He has worked at Ixia Communications, InFocus and Tektronix.
The Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority named the board of directors for the new public corporation to manage funding and tourism promotion for Des Moines, SeaTac and Tukwila. Board members are Barry Baxter, Ken Stockdale and Frank Welton. The officers are Chairperson Maureen Huffman of Embassy Suites Sea-Tac, Vice Chair Sanjay Mahajan of Radisson Hotel Seattle Airport, Secretary David Sullivan of Cedarbrook Lodge and Treasurer Barbara Brunetti of Ramada Tukwila.
KODIAK, Alaska (AP) — Interim Kodiak Fire Chief Jim Mullican has been appointed permanently to the top job. Mullican began his official duties as chief on Tuesday. Mullican began with the fire department as a volunteer in 1999 and became deputy chief in 2011.

The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture said Elisheba Johnson was elected to the Emerging Leaders Network, an advisory council of Americans for the Arts, which advances arts and arts education. Ruri Yampolsky, Seattle's public art director, is a member of the Public Art Network Council for Americans for the Arts. Johnson supports the office of Arts & Culture and Seattle Arts Commission, and is a visual artist.

Seattle Theatre Group named Jack McLarnan as season programming manager. He was performing arts coordinator for Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and joined STG in November. In Chicago, he curated and produced more than 125 events a year, including for Millennium Park. STG presents events at The Paramount, Moore and Neptune, and at other venues in this region and Portland.
Esterline, a Bellevue manufacturer of products for aerospace and defense markets, named Paul Benson vice president of human resources. He succeeds Tom Heine, who is retiring after 15 years with Esterline. Benson spent seven years as senior HR director at Hewlett-Packard and also worked at Intel and Nalley Foods.

The Sound City Association Board elected Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson president for 2015. SCA represents 36 cities in King County with a total population of nearly one million people. It focuses on issues such as economic development, transportation, health, education and public safety.
Puget Sound Energy named Melanie J. Dressel chair of its board of directors. She is is president and CEO of Tacoma-based Columbia Bank and succeeds William S. Ayer of Alaska Air Group, who is retiring.
Complete Financial Solutions Inc. of Spokane has acquired the assets of Emery Accounting in Priest River, Idaho. Founded in 2005, Emery Accounting offers accounting, tax and bookkeeping services to individuals and small businesses.
