She has been promoted to operations manager after managing support functions for almost five years. She also worked as finance billing manager at McGladrey, a national assurance, tax and consulting firm.

Smith

Smith, a Seattle-based global commerce agency, has formed a strategic partnership with Mirakl, a global marketplace platform provider, to help retailers reach more customers with more products. Mirakl has over 140 clients across 40 countries. Smith has offices in Spokane and Ottawa-Gatineau, and satellite presence in Dallas, Dayton, Minneapolis, Montreal and Toronto.

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt hired Sandra Johnson, a health care regulatory attorney, as the health law group leader in Seattle. Johnson had a career of more than 25 years in hospital management. She counsels hospitals and hospital systems, physicians and group practices, RHCs, FQHCs, laboratories, long-term care providers and other organizations.

Washington State University Foundation

Washington State University Foundation gave the Weldon B. “Hoot” Gibson Distinguished Volunteer Award to retired Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Scott Carson. Scott chaired WSU's $1 billion fundraising campaign.

Coalition for Open Government

The Washington Coalition for Open Government will honor State Rep. Joan McBride (D-48th District, Kirkland) and State Sen. Mark Miloscia (R-30th District, Federal Way) with the Ballard-Thompson Award for 2017. They helped to improve public agency performance and accountability under the Public Records Act, as embodied in Engrossed Substitute House Bill 1594.

Washington State University

Lisa Calvert, a development and fundraising expert with more than 30 years of experience, has been named vice president for advancement at Washington State University and CEO of the WSU Foundation. She starts Oct. 25, and will be WSU's chief fundraising officer. She was vice chancellor for institutional advancement and COO of the foundation for Texas Tech University System, and also worked at Purdue University and Creighton University. She replaces Gil Picciotto.

Northwest Access Fund

Northwest Access Fund will give out its annual awards Nov. 2 at Bell Harbor Conference Center. The winners are: Innovation Award, Anat Caspi of Taskar Center; Best Practices Award, Edmonds Theater (small business) and Microsoft (large business); Recreational Engagement Award, Cody Goldberg of Harper's Playground in Oregon; Frances Pennell Economic Opportunity Award, Do-It; and Ron Adams Outstanding Advocate Award, Conrad Reynoldson. The group promotes access to technology and economic opportunity for people with disabilities.

Cowger

Schwabe, Williamson and Wyatt named Graciela Gomez Cowger as its first CEO, which is a new position for the firm. She is the first woman to lead Schwabe, and one of just a few Latinas to lead a U.S. law firm. The change comes after 16 years of shared leadership by Managing Partner Mark Long and President David Bartz, Jr.

Hoedemaker Pfeiffer Gallery

Hoedemaker Pfeiffer Gallery is opening in Georgetown at 6109 13th Ave. S. The first exhibit is a group show with work by Kim Van Someren and Ellen Ziegler. Hoedemaker Pfeiffer is a design studio led by Steve Hoedemaker and Tim Pfeiffer focused on architecture, interiors and landscape.

Flying Fish Partners

Heather Redman, co-founder and managing partner of Seattle-based Flying Fish Partners venture capital firm, has joined the Washington State University Board of Regents, replacing Laura Jennings. Redman will serve until Sept. 30, 2021.
