Cozen O'Connor

In Seattle, Cozen O'Connor hired attorney Jeremy M. Dukmen to expand its West Coast intellectual property practice. Dukmen comes from BakerHostetler, where he practiced in the IP department. He was a mechanical engineer before becoming an attorney. Cozen O'Connor has 28 offices on two continents.

Marchex

Seattle-based mobile advertising analytics company Marchex named Dr. Junmei Zhong chief artificial intelligence scientist. The company also launched Marchex Innovation Development Lab, a research and development group. Zhong has 18 years of R&D experience in data science, applied math, machine learning, data mining and natural language processing. He was chief data scientist at Inspur, principal data scientist at Pitchbook and assistant professor at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Ohio.

Governor's Employer Awards

The Governor's Committee on Disability Issues and Employment recognized six employers for helping people with disabilities. Winners of 2018 Governor's Employer Awards are: Cascade Public Media, Fred Meyer Store 122, Kulshan Brewing Co., Gigglechops Dog Wash, Educational Service District 123 and the city of Bellevue. The committee also honored Don Kay for his commitment to people with disabilities and Paula Bouwer for creating job opportunities for workers with disabilities. Kay works at the DSHS Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and Bouwer is manager of Deaf Services at Washington Vocational Services.

Marten Law

Former White House regulatory experts Jonathan Rackoff and Nathan Frey joined Marten Law's Seattle office. Rackoff was senior lawyer for the EPA and has 20 years of regulatory experience. He is a partner at Marten Law overseeing the Regulatory and Government Investigations practice. Frey is a non-lawyer who advised the staff of former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush. He is working with Marten Law though Regulatory Strategies and Solutions Group, his wholly owned consulting company. Marten Law specializes in energy and environmental law.

Impinj

The Seattle-based RFID technology company Impinj hired Bob Hargadon as senior vice president of people and culture. Hargadon has over 30 years of HR experience, with stints at Alere, Microsoft, drugstore.com, Boston Scientific and Fidelity Investments.

King County

King County gave John D. Spellman Awards for historic preservation to: Patricia Cosgrove (city of Auburn) for overseeing the White River Valley Museum; Auburn Masonic Lodge for restoration of the 1924 King Solomon Masonic Temple; the Tupper family for stewardship of their Gothic arch barn in Auburn-Enumclaw; Sammamish Heritage Society for preserving historic resources on the Sammamish Plateau; and Roanoke Inn for its contribution to Mercer Island's culture for more than 100 years. These owners/stewards of recently landmarked properties won certificates: Dave and Monica Brethauer for the former F.W. Woolworth Co. store in Renton; Issaquah for Gilman Town Hall and Jail; Museum of Flight for The Red Barn in Tukwila; Kim and Dan Hartman for Buchanan House in Kirkland; Northwest Railway Museum for Interurban Car 523; and Daniels Real Estate for Saint Edward Seminary in Kenmore.

Hamman

In Bellevue, Prime 8 Consulting hired Michelle Hamman as director of talent acquisition. Hamman spent the last 11 years at Xtreme Consulting Group as technical recruiter, then recruiting lead and finally talent acquisition manager. She helped build the R4R (recruiting for recruiters) division at Xtreme. Prime 8 is a business consultant.

Theatre Puget Sound

Eitemiller

Ruth Eitemiller won the 2018 Melissa Hines Backstage Award from Theatre Puget Sound. Eitemiller spent the last 10 years working with ACT, Book-It Repertory Theatre, Seattle Shakespeare Co., The 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Children's Theatre and others. She also teaches stage management at Seattle University. The recognition was part of the 10th Annual Gregory Awards in Seattle.

Seattle Public Schools

Seattle Public Schools hired Tim Robinson as communications specialist and media relations lead. Robinson was a freelance writer and in marketing and public relations for Visit Spokane. Before that, he was a reporter for KING 5 News.
