Snyder, a Pacific Northwest roofing and waterproofing company, announced a transition in ownership and control of the century-old company. CEO Josh Mullen will assume full ownership of Snyder, following a succession plan created in collaboration with the King family. The full purchase of shares represents a transition of the company's ownership and control from three surviving members of the King family to Mullen. The transition of ownership will have no impact on the day-to-day operations of Snyder or its business model, and underscores Snyder's commitment to local, independent control and expertise within its Oregon and Washington operations. Mullen is a long-time Snyder employee and has been the company's CEO since 2020. The company's corporate headquarters are located in Tigard, Oregon.
Bellevue-based Smartsheet, an enterprise work management platform, has been named to Fast Company's annual list of Brands That Matter for 2023. Smartsheet was recognized as a top brand in the enterprise category for connecting people to its mission of empowering anyone to drive meaningful change through touchpoints like its world-first Sponsor X initiative and First Residence program, which elevate people and nonprofits doing impactful work in their communities, and its Power Your Process brand campaign, which encourages customers to drive meaningful change in their own work using the Smartsheet platform. The Brands That Matter list honors brands that communicate and demonstrate brand purpose. These companies and nonprofits have built cultural relevance and impact through compelling branding and efforts that naturally extend their presence into the community. Smartsheet launched the world-first Sponsor X initiative in 2022. Smartsheet brought Sponsor X to the United States Grand Prix with The Hidden Genius Project, who train and mentor Black male youth while tackling the misconception there's a lack of Black STEM talent. Most recently, Smartsheet and McLaren racing brought Sponsor X to the British Grand Prix with STEAM Co., a UK-based nonprofit that runs creativity sessions in primary schools and community fetes and festivals across England. With The First Residence, Smartsheet applied this approach to its partnership with Climate Pledge Arena and The Seattle Kraken. The residency's first exhibition, “The Salmon People,” was curated by Matika Wilbur in collaboration with Puyallup artist Shaun Peterson. Digimarc Corporation announced that former Oracle and Salesforce enterprise sales leader Tom Benton has joined the company as chief revenue officer. Benton brings 30 years of sales leadership experience to Digimarc. Building on achievements at Oracle and Salesforce, Benton assumed the role of chief revenue officer at Workmarket, an ADP company. Most recently, Benton served as CRO of HireVue, where he built a global team and go-to-market plan, doubling annual recurring revenue in three years and expanding the enterprise client base. Benton's early career included leading a partner and channel business at BEA Systems (acquired by Oracle). After being acquired by Oracle, the program was expanded globally. Digimarc software provides product and watermark digitization that enables the capture of product data, records events and interactions, and supports new automations. The company is headquartered in Beaverton.
NW Natural Water Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Northwest Natural Holding Company, has completed the acquisition of Rose Valley Water Company, a water utility serving approximately 2,400 connections in Peoria, Arizona, a suburb northwest of Phoenix. With this transaction, NW Natural Water serves more than 164,000 people through approximately 66,000 connections across five states. Northwest Natural Holdings is headquartered in Portland, and has been doing business for over 160 years in the Pacific Northwest. It owns NW Natural Gas Company, NW Natural Water Company, NW Natural Renewables Holdings, and other business interests.
Boise Cascade announced that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of Brockway-Smith Company, a wholesale distributor specializing in doors and millwork. Boise Cascade produces engineered wood products and plywood in North America, and is a U.S. wholesale distributor of building products.

Geffen Mesher, a Portland-based tax and assurance firm, appointed Rob Stahly as its new chief operating officer. Before joining Geffen Mesher, Stahly was the executive vice president of client operations at Atmosera, an Azure Expert Managed Services Provider. He also held leadership positions as the COO and executive vice president at Catalyte, where he was responsible for overseeing services to clients in the health plan segment. Stahly has an MBA with a concentration in management information systems from Johns Hopkins, a bachelor's in psychology from Northern Illinois, and completed Ph.D. coursework in industrial and organizational psychology at DePaul. For more than 90 years, Geffen Mesher has provided financial reporting, and tax and business consulting services.
Bellevue-based Hyper Photonix announced a significant expansion of its manufacturing capabilities, marked by the inauguration in June of a state-of-the-art gigafactory in Bengbu, Anhui province, China. The new facility encompasses 120,000 square feet and is backed by a multi-million-dollar investment. The company is committed to meeting the increasing demand for optical transceivers in the hyper-scale data center and AI markets. The increase in its manufacturing capabilities is planned to reach 50,000 units per month by the end of the year, further increasing to several 100,000 units/month by the end of 2024. Ming Yang is the president and founder of Hyper Photonix. Plans are underway to establish production lines outside of China by mid-2024 to mitigate production flow risks and offer customers alternative sourcing at enhanced value. Hyper Photonix makes optical transceivers for high-speed networking applications in data center, enterprise and optical transmission networks.
Renton-based ATS Automation announced that it has added ECT Services, headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, to its family of companies. This addition will enable ATS Companies' continued growth in Kentucky and the Midwest while providing increased capabilities and support for national account clients. ATS will add ECT Services to its family of facility solution providers under the new name ATS Integrated Solutions. Established in 1986, ATS provides energy management services, automated control systems, critical airflow solutions, facility analytics, and building systems integration. ATS serves clients in Washington, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, eastern Oregon, Florida, Georgia and Kentucky, as well as customers across Canada.
