Seattle's Ledcor Industries has added Larry J.R. Lunsford as senior project director, Mike Vowels as manager of special projects and Ken Lorenz as a senior project manager. Lunsford has over 20 years of industry experience, including fast-track, lowrise office, design-build retail, industrial and distribution warehouse projects. His role at the company includes subcontractor and vendor contract negotiations, daily construction operations, supervision of project management staff and superintendents, and oversight of the safety and quality assurance programs. Vowels has over 20 years of experience in commercial, retail and industrial projects. His duties include acting as a liaison between owners, architects and engineers; and providing technical expertise, field superintendent support, schedules, quality control and project management. Lorenz has over 17 years of experience in commercial and industrial construction. He also has a background in the project entitlement process that includes agency approvals and permitting, preconstruction services, and cost and schedule development and control.
Two new team members have joined RCI Construction Group in Sumner. Tom Nielsen is a project manager and Dennis Irick is a senior estimator and project manager. Nielsen has over 12 years of experience in heavy construction, including earthwork and underground utilities. He is a graduate of both the University of Washington and California State University. He is working on road projects at the East Campus Corporate Park and South 96th Street in Tacoma. Irick has 20 years of industry experience. His role at RCI includes large heavy civil projects involving concrete work and process piping and equipment systems found in hydroelectric projects and water treatment facilities. He also is working on deep, large-diameter pipe installations with RCI's utility division.
Modern Building Systems of Aumsville, Ore., has received the "Employer of the Year" award for 1999 from the Salem Chamber of Commerce. The maker of modular buildings earned the award for excellence in marketing, outstanding customer relations, promoting employee growth, contributing to the manufacturing industry, community service, and innovative products and services.

Kenneth Dyckman and Roger Roe have joined the Hermanson Corp. Dyckman is a project manager responsible for design-build and plan-and-spec projects. He has 14 years of mechanical design, construction and management experience. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from the University of Arizona. Roe is a mechanical engineer in the company's Design-Build Department. He has over 25 years of design and construction experience, and holds a bachelor's degree and MBA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Spokane's Shea Construction has hired Thomas J. Perko and Trey Scavone as project managers. Perko has spent the past three and a half years in Bosnia and Herzegovina helping relief organizations rebuild those countries. He earned a bachelor's degree in building construction from the University of Washington, and a MBA from the University of Michigan. Scavone is working on a $7.8 million addition and renovation at Whitman College's Penrose Library in Walla Walla. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Bradley University.
Ledcor Industries of Seattle has promoted Mike Fisher and Walle Ralkowski, and hired Larry Prescott. Fisher is now the vice president of the Seattle Building Division. He has been with Ledcor for eight years and has 18 years of construction experience. In his new role, he is responsible for the operations of the local division. Ralkowski is now vice president of National Accounts. He has been with Ledcor for four years and has over 27 years of industry experience. In his new role, he is responsible for formulating contracts with national clients who have multiple construction projects throughout the United States and Canada. Prescott is the new director of Preconstruction Services. He also has over 27 years of industry experience. His role is to acquire new work and coordinate the company's marketing, estimating, scheduling and administrative efforts during the preconstruction phase of new negotiated projects.
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers installed its new officers and directors at its annual meeting held recently in Seattle. The new officers are: Harley W. Goodman Jr. of Goodman Engineers in Little Rock, Ark., president; James E. Wolf of American Standard in Arlington, Va., president-elect; William J. Coad of McClure Engineering Associates in St. Louis, Mo., treasurer; Raymond E. Patenaude of TECO Energy in Tampa, Fla., vice president; Richard H. Rooley of Rooley Consultants in London, vice president; J. Thomas Sobieski of Airside Products Group of York International Corp. in Johnstown, Pa., vice president; and Ronald P. Vallort of The Haskell Co. in Chicago, vice president.
