The Seattle office of Skanska USA Building promoted Curt Burks to corporate senior vice president of technical services, Eric Temp to vice president of pre-construction and Alan Dunbar to senior pre-construction director. Burks has more than 27 years of experience in the operations and pre-construction fields, in both civil and construction management. Temp has been with Skanska for 11 years. In his new role, he is providing oversight and guidance to the Seattle pre-construction team. Dunbar joined Skanska about two years ago. He has more than 15 years of pre-construction and cost consulting experience.

MBA of Pierce County

The Master Builders Association of Pierce County last Thursday handed out its excellence awards. The winners included: Duke York of York Enterprises, Builder of the Year; Troy Rideb of Renewal Remodels and Additions, Remodeler of the Year; Contract Furnishings Mart, Company of the Year; Rick Yorkk of Residential Wiring Specialists (a division of Carl T. Madsen), Associate of the Year; Kat O'Brien of Crescent Lighting Supply, John Slott Recruiter of the Year; and Pat Steffan of First American Title & Escrow Co., The Robert Camp Award.

Parr Lumber

Hillsboro, Ore.'s Parr Lumber has been named 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year by Lumber and Building Materials Journal. Parr received the award for its innovations and environmentally sound products, including its Get Real program that identifies sustainable building materials and its High Performance System to create turn-key building envelopes. Parr was one of three companies in the country to receive the award.

AGC of America

Brian Turmail joined the Associated General Contractors of America as senior director of public affairs. Turmail was previously director of communications at the U.S. Department of Transportation. He is based in Arlington, Va.
