Walsh Construction Co. promoted several employees in its Portland and Seattle offices. In Seattle, Tom Mathews has become vice president of construction, where he is focusing on preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, green/sustainable construction, technology, QA/QC and other construction processes. In Portland, Andrew Beyer, another new vice president, is focusing on strategic planning, marketing, business development, client and community relations, and government issues. Bill Reid is now vice president and general manager of Walsh Construction Co./Washington in Seattle, where he is managing the firm’s activities in Washington. Mike Steffen took on the same role for Walsh Construction Co./Oregon, based in Portland. Larry Robertson moved from senior project manager to chief estimator in the Portland office, where he is responsible for estimating construction projects throughout Oregon and southwest Washington.

UtilX Corp.

Kent-based UtilX Corp., an online cable condition assessment service, hired John Connolly as president and CEO. Connolly recently worked at Coe Manufacturing in Portland. He replaced Tom Van Horn, who joined InfrastruX Group, the construction services holding company of which UtilX is a subsidiary, as an executive vice president for strategy, technology and business development.

Platt Electric

Shelton
Wally Shelton was appointed regional vice president of Platt Electric's Western Washington region. In his new role, Shelton is responsible for sales and branch operations from the Canadian border to Lewis County and east to Ellensburg, which includes 20 company locations and six marketing divisions. Shelton has more than 30 years of industry experience, including 10 years at Platt.

Lease Crutcher Lewis

The Seattle office of Lease Crutcher Lewis added Troy Bloedel as a senior project manager and Marjorie Landon as an accounting assistant in accounts payable. Bloedel has 29 years of construction experience and studied mechanical engineering and construction management at the University of Portland. He has worked on such projects as Snoqualmie Casino, McCaw Hall and Lincoln Square. Landon has seven years of accounting experience and holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of the Philippines in Manila.

ASCC

The American Society of Concrete Contractors elected two Washingtonians as part of its 2009 national leadership team. Mike Poppoff of Poppoff Inc. in Moxee is a vice president and Clark Branum of L.M. Scofield Co. in Marysville is an advisory board member of the association's Decorative Concrete Council.
