Derek Benson joined PSF Mechanical as project executive in the Special Projects Tenant Improvements Department, Christina Rose joined as bookkeeper and contracts administrator in the Service Department, and Peter Martynovych joined as VCM plumbing and piping detailer in the Virtual Construction Modeling Department. Benson has been in the industry for nearly 30 years, spending the last 10 years in project management, design, estimating and sales. Rose holds associate's degrees in both accounting and business, and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting from Western Governors University. Martynovych has 20 years of industry experience and holds a degree in HVAC and piping from North Seattle Community College.

Skanska USA promoted Tony Taddeo to senior vice president and general manager of Skanska USA Civil in the Northwest. In his new role, Taddeo is overseeing all civil construction operations in the Northwest and Northern California. He has been with Skanska for more than 27 years, previously as senior vice president of estimating for Skanska Koch, which specializes in bridges and structural steel. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the City College of New York.
Oak Harbor-based Blue Mountain Electric was named 2013 Subcontractor of the Year by Washington Patriot Construction. The veteran-owned subcontractor worked on several Washington Patriot projects, including energy upgrades at a Bremerton barracks, a Whidbey Island airfield and a naval hospital security upgrade.

Abbott Construction hired Chad Falgout as superintendent, Jeff Phillips and Chris Lee as project managers, and Chris Wiberg as project engineer. Falgout has 24 years of hands-on construction experience. Phillips has 22 years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington. Lee has 19 years of experience in both field supervision and project management, and is a LEED AP BD+C. Wiberg holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University.



Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company, hired Jim West as safety director, and Eldon Kiel and Andy Brown as senior project managers. All three work in the Washington State Division in Seattle. West has 30 years of safety and risk management experience in the construction and timber industries, including 22 years at the state Department of Labor and Industries. He holds a bachelor's degree in forestry from the University of Washington, is a certified OSHA instructor and is a Certified Safety Professional. Kiel has 15 years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of British Columbia. Brown has 23 years of industry experience, including 14 years at Wright as a project manager in Guam, Portland and Seattle. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration/construction engineering management from Oregon State University.



PSF Mechanical hired Xay Keomongkhoun as network administrator, Samantha DeBella as Nordstrom Team administrative assistant and Mary Beth Thurman as administrative assistant for the Special Projects Tenant Improvements Department. Keomongkhoun has 20 years of IT experience and holds an associate's degree in computer networking and electronics technology from Edmonds Community College. DeBella has seven years of administrative experience and is a graduate of Rutgers University. Thurman has five years of experience and holds a bachelor's degree in English from Mississippi State University.
Everett-based Goldfinch Bros. promoted Scott Murphy to president. Murphy joined the company in 2008 as chief operating and financial officer. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Washington, serves on the Everett City Council, and is a board member for Mountain Pacific Bank and the Greater Everett Community Foundation. Goldfinch is a glass and glazing company serving commercial and residential markets since 1892.
Martha Rose of Martha Rose Construction in Seattle was named Builder Advocate of the Year as part of the 2014 NAHBGreen Awards given by the National Association of Home Builders. The award was presented earlier this month at the NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas. Rose is the 2014 president of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties.
Juli Bacon was named PWB Woman of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders Professional Women in Building Council. Bacon is from JB Consulting Systems in Woodinville. She is chair of the PWB Council at the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties.
