Jewelry theft costs hotel chain big bucks

I've always thought jewelry is overrated. This probably explains why my own "collection" consists of a cheap wristwatch, and a few sentimental items like my college class ring and a wedding band I no longer wear.

But that's okay. Because when I travel, I don't have to worry about using theft-proof luggage (if there is such a thing) or safety deposit boxes, or taking other measures to keep my jewelry from being stolen. Which brings me to the contrary experience of Joseph and Marie Ippolito.
