Seattle-based Runberg Architecture Group promoted Ben Gist to senior associate. Gist is an architect with 13 years of experience in urban housing who guides projects from design through construction. Gist recently managed Union on Dexter, a 290-unit apartment building at 901 Dexter Ave. N. for Holland Partners, and 4041 Roosevelt Way, a 214-unit mixed-use project for Vulcan Real Estate. He is project architect on Holland's 810 Dexter Ave, a 362-unit mixed-use development. Runberg specializes in urban mixed-use housing and adaptive reuse projects.

Swenson Say Faget promoted Brett Mozden, Greg Juttner, Karl Rosman, Sean King and Zane Kanyer to associate principal. Mozdent started with the firm in 2004. He works on housing and public projects, including Fire Station Number 18 in Seattle. Juttner began working for Swenson Say Faget in 2004. He focuses on high-end single-family projects and leads residential seismic retrofits in the Puget Sound region. Rosman joined the firm in 2005. He focuses on residential, commercial and faith projects, and is working on the Life Center at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Medina. King joined the firm in 2001, and is the IT manager. Kanyer was hired in 2004, and has focused the last several years on multifamily, adaptive reuse and seismic retrofits. He is working on Kennedy Catholic High School's Science Room. Swenson Say Faget is a structural engineering firm with offices in Seattle and Tacoma.

EHS Design hired Fatah Boualamallah as an architect and Karlee Coble as an interior designer. Boualamallah has more than 20 years of mixed-use, institutional, hospitality and commercial experience. He holds a bachelor of architecture from the University of Tizi-Ouzou in Algeria and a master's in planning from the University of Montana. Coble has eight years of experience on residential, commercial, public, health care and higher education projects. She holds an interior design degree from Bellevue College. EHS is an interior design and architecture firm located in Seattle.

Bremerton-based Rice Fergus Miller said Gena Lee, an interior designer, has been certified by The American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers, and designer Jason Ritter-Lopatowski earned a LEED Accredited Professional credential from the U.S. Green Building Council. The firm provides architecture, interior design and planning.

GeoDimensions

Mark Borys joined Bellevue-based GeoDimensions as a surveyor. Borys has more than 12 years of surveying experience. He has worked at MXP Consulting, Site Survey and Mapping, Geodatum, Core Design and American Engineering Corp., and he founded BBA Land Surveying. Borys has managed large-scale developments including Talus in Issaquah. GeoDimensions provides land and architectural surveys.

CH2M Hill

CH2M Hill has expanded its Northwest transportation staff with five new hires. They are Craig Helmann, a traffic engineer and project manager; Steve Litchfield, a senior project manager and engineer; Catherine Ciarlo, a transportation planner and project manager; Charles Dixon, a consultant to the operations/logistic management and asset management market; and Allen Prouty, a resident engineer and construction manager. Helmann has more than 17 years of experience. He previously worked at Puget Sound Regional Council and the Washington State Department of Transportation. Litchfield has 20 years of experience leading multidisciplinary projects involving bridges and other transportation facilities. He has managed development for Oregon agencies and ODOT. Ciarlo has led planning, funding and implementation of multimodal transportation projects. She was transportation policy director for former Portland Mayor Sam Adams and executive director of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance. Dixon has 20 years of experience, with a background that includes seaport and airport operations; and transport of commodities and hazardous materials. Prouty has 27 years of experience as a contractor and consultant representative. He spend 12 years as Snohomish County's Overlay Program manager. CH2M Hill is a consulting, design, construction and operations firm based near Denver.

Principal Alissa Rupp is the new president of The Portico Group. Michael Hamm, president and CEO for 15 years, will continue as CEO until he retires in April, when Rupp will take over that position. Rupp has been with the firm for nearly 15 years, leading projects in the U.S. and Asia, including museums, zoos and science centers. Hamm is a Portico founder and has led projects for governmental and not-for-profit clients including World War II Valor in the Pacific and Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, both in Honolulu. The nearly 30-year-old Seattle-based firm designs museums, zoos, public gardens, aquariums and visitor centers.

Pam Kendrick and Gregg Soares joined Bernardo|Wills Architects as building information modeling/computer-aided design technicians. Kendrick is working on Chief Joseph Village Apartments on WSU's Pullman campus. She was a graduate teaching assistant at Clemson University and holds a master's degree in historic preservation. Soares is providing drawing and graphics support for Spokane's Nelson Service Center solid waste and fleet maintenance project. He was with Mine Ventilation Services and holds a bachelor's in construction management from ITT Technical Institute. Spokane-based Bernardo|Wills provides architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and master planning.

Pete Richmond rejoined Travis, Fitzmaurice & Associates as an electrical engineer focusing on K-12, higher education and fire stations. He was campus electrical engineer at Central Washington University and worked for nine years at Travis, Fitzmaurice. The Seattle-based firm provides electrical design services for educational, institutional, industrial, commercial and housing projects.

Patrick Faas, Matthew Wichgers and Steve Harris of Elliott Bay Design Group have completed the Cold Regions Engineering Short Course, a credential that recognizes skills in Arctic engineering and is required for licensure in Alaska. The firm provides naval architecture, marine engineering and production support services, with offices in Seattle, New Orleans and Ketchikan, Alaska.

Richard Tomer was named a regulatory and permitting specialist at Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global infrastructure consulting, engineering and program/construction management organization. He will provide technical regulatory services in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut for resiliency and waterfront projects. He spent 31 years at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, most recently as chief of the regulatory branch.

GeoEngineers

GeoEngineers hired Rachel Philbrook as a human resources recruiting coordinator and Devon McLay as a staff geotechnical engineer in the Redmond office. The firm also hired Stephanie Pride as a graphic designer in the Seattle headquarters. The earth science, engineering and technology consulting firm also has regional offices in Tacoma and Bellingham.

In the Seattle office, DLR Group promoted Jason Dardis to principal, Diana Brown and Mike Janes to senior associate, and Denny Burke, Tara Kelly and Amarpreet Sethi to associate. Dardis leads the corporate practice in Seattle where he collaborates with Fortune 500 clients in technology, retail, and development segments. DLR Group provides architecture, engineering, planning and interior design.
