Sparling hired Jeffrey Harrison as an electrical project designer in its Portland office. He began his career in architecture in 1993 and converted to electrical design in 2002. He has a background in hospital, high-rise commercial and data center projects, and in project management and CAD management. He is working on health care projects, including the Salem Hospital Ambulatory Surgical Center. Sparling is an electrical, technology, audiovisual, acoustical and lighting design firm with offices also in Lynnwood and San Diego.




The Glosten Associates hired Zenzile Brooks as assistant marketing director, Colin Flynn as a marine engineer, Justin Van Emmerik as an ocean engineer and Doug Zangre as a naval architect. Brooks will develop proposals and presentations, and do marketing. She holds a master's and a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has served as a volunteer reporter for the Materials Research Society Bulletin. Flynn will support mechanical systems design and finite element analysis. He holds a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Gonzaga University. Van Emmerik joined the ocean engineering and analysis group, working on vessel resistance, seakeeping and mooring system analysis. Zangre joined the naval architecture group, where he will initially focus on structural design and stability in marine construction. Van Emmerik and Zangre hold bachelor's degrees in naval architecture and marine engineering from Webb Institute. Glosten is an engineering consultancy based in Seattle.


Metrix Engineers hired Sam Douglas and Rachel Booth as mechanical engineers. Douglas is a 2013 University of Washington graduate and is supporting design work for Bellevue School District's Odle Middle School. Booth graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is supporting design for Highline School District's Beverly Park Elementary School. Metrix is a mechanical engineering consulting firm in Renton.

Seattle-based Harris Group named John Marrow as president and chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1. He replaces retiring CEO James Gabriel who has held the position since 2003 and has been with the company for 29 years. Marrow joined the firm in 2012 as chief operations officer. He will focus on strategic industry sectors and strengthening relationships with key clients. He holds a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK. Harris Group is an engineering design firm specializing in industrial manufacturing and process industries, with offices also in Portland, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Bakersfield and Dallas.

Brandon Bell joined PSF Mechanical as an HVAC service technician, Danita Hill as an accounts payable specialist and Charles White as a project design engineer. Bell has been in the HVAC industry for about five years and was a Navy helicopter mechanic. Hill has been in the construction industry for 16 years. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business management from National University. White recently received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Seattle University. PSF specializes in mechanical design-build projects in life sciences, high-tech and Class A office buildings

In Seattle, Arup promoted Anne Marie Moellenberndt to associate, and hired Kirk Stinebaugh and Daniel Spencer as mechanical engineers and Sandy Duran as a marketing specialist. Moellenberndt joined Arup in 2007 and has 11 years of mechanical engineering and design experience. She has worked on civic, commercial, mixed-use and public buildings, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation campus. Stinebaugh has five years of experience in mechanical system design and sustainability, and was previously with Interface Engineering. Spencer holds a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University and a master's in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland. He is working on the Pike Place Market PC-1 project. Duran has 10 years of marketing and business development experience in architecture, engineering and construction. Arup is an engineering and consulting firm.


The Bristol Alliance of Companies said Joe Terrell, its president and chief executive officer, will retire at year's end. He will be replaced by Travis Woods, who has been with Bristol for 18 years and who has led Bristol Engineering Services Corp., a member of the Bristol Alliance. John Blees was named chief operating officer of Bristol Engineering Services. Blees has been with Bristol for 10-plus years. Terrell joined Bristol in 1996. Under his leadership, it has grown to eight companies with more than 300 employees. It provides construction, engineering, range and unexploded ordnance response work, and environmental and remediation work. The Bristol Alliance are subsidiaries of Bristol Bay Native Corp., a regional Alaska Native Corporation with annual revenues approaching $2 billion.

USKH architecture and engineering firm hired Meredith Noble as a funding specialist in Spokane. In Washington, she focuses on transportation projects, water and wastewater systems, stormwater management and architectural projects, and in Alaska on transportation projects and community, maintenance and public safety facilities. She is a 2012 graduate of Gonzaga University in Spokane. Prior to joining USKH, she owned a consulting business.

Adam Croft, an audiovisual designer with Sparling, earned the Certified Technology Specialist credential from InfoComm International for audiovisual professionals. Sparling is a technology, audiovisual, electrical, acoustical and lighting design firm with offices in Lynnwood, Portland and San Diego.
The Blueline Group hired Nadia Kroumova as an engineering designer. Kroumova previously worked as a civil CAD designer and civil engineer and has more than 25 years of experience on residential and commercial developments. Blueline provides civil engineering and land development consulting.
