The law firm of Lane Powell elected Jenifer A. Jewkes and Priya B. Vivian as shareholders in the Seattle office; and Justin J. Cabrera, Katie Gallagher and Matthew D. Viers as shareholders in the Portland office. Jewkes focuses on tax, estate and succession planning. Vivian represents employers in employment disputes. Cabrera specializes in commercial real estate transactions. Gallagher counsels on business matters. Viers represents entrepreneurs, startups and investors in connection with corporate, venture capital financing and intellectual property licensing.

Pope Resources

Global forest company Rayonier will acquire Poulsbo-based Pope Resources for about $554 million in equity and cash. The deal will increase Rayonier's holdings in the Pacific Northwest to 504,000 acres, adding 57 million board feet of timber. Pope, a publicly traded limited partnership, owns and manages 125,000 acres of timberland and other properties in Washington. Rayonier is headquartered in Wildlight, Florida. The deal is expected to close by mid-year.

Fortive

Everett-based conglomerate Fortive announced it will spin off a new industrial company later this year called Vontier Corp. that will focus on transportation and mobility. Vontier initially will consist of retail and commercial fueling, fleet management and professional tool brands that include Gilbarco Veeder-Root, Matco Tools and Teletrac Navman. Mark D. Morelli will be president and CEO of Vontier, which will be headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, and employ about 8,400 people worldwide.

City of Tacoma

The Tacoma City Council wants to fill four positions on the Commission on Immigrant and Refugee Affairs. The commission works with Tacoma's immigrant and refugee communities to help members of this diverse population. Northwest Seaport Alliance

Henderson

The Northwest Seaport Alliance hired Dana Henderson as general counsel. Henderson has over 20 years of experience in both public and private law practice, and previously served over six years as general counsel for Pierce Transit. She worked as a litigator and maritime law practitioner earlier in her career. The alliance is a marine cargo partnership of the ports of Seattle and Tacoma.

Life Science Washington

Life Science Washington, the state's life science trade association, has three new board members and new leadership on its executive committee. Dr. Margaret McCormick, executive director and COO of Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason and vice president of Research for Virginia Mason Medical Center, is the new board chair. McCormick succeeds Caitlin Cameron, chair and CEO of OtoNexus Medical Technologies, who continues on the executive committee. New board members are: Jan Beck, head of R&D operations at Lyell Immunopharma; Lauren Hackett, COO at the Allen Institute; and Amanda Rose, partner at Fenwick & West. New members of the executive committee are: Richard Fabian, president and COO of FujiFilm SonoSite; and Dr. Teresa Foy, senior vice president of immunology-oncology and cellular therapy at Bristol-Myers Squibb.

City of Tacoma

The Tacoma City Council has five openings on its Citizen Police Advisory Committee. The openings are for one youth position and one position each for residents of council districts 1, 2, 4 and 5. The committee provides recommendations about Tacoma Police Department policy to the City Council. Orbridge

Orbridge, a Bainbridge Island tour operator specializing in educational travel, said it will plant 100,000 trees this year to help forest recovery, halt soil erosion, provide habitat and improve air quality. Trees will be planted in government-owned forests.
