Schlecht Construction

Schlecht Construction recently won two Construction Excellence awards from the Lower Columbia Contractors Association. The Kelso-based contractor won the New Commercial/Industrial Project over $2 million award for the Nortech Fabrication facility in Kelso and the Commercial Remodel over $500,000 award for the Community Home Health & Hospice renovation in Longview. Subcontractors involved in the Nortech project included Carney Construction (site work), Hamer Electric and Entek (HVAC). Wayne Glandon was Schecht's superintendent on the job. Randy Sundberg managed the Longview project and Dick Lindquist was the superintendent.

MBA and APA

Mike Brennan and Allan Giffen received Public Employee of the Year awards from the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties and the Puget Sound Section of the Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association. Brennan is Bellevue's Development Services director and Giffen is Everett's Planning and Community Development director. Brennan was honored for helping guide the largest downtown building boom in Bellevue's history and working with other Eastside cities to create a Web-based access point for permits and technical information. Giffen assisted Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson with his Vision Team process, which led to a new downtown plan and several development projects in the downtown core. Giffen was also instrumental in driving several redevelopment projects in the city's waterfront and riverfront areas.

Anderson Construction Group

Seattle's Anderson Construction Group was named a 2008 Fastest-Growing Private Company by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The contractor ranked 106th for sales growth over 2005-07, with an increase of 57 percent. It builds custom homes and commercial projects in the Puget Sound region.

Bayley Construction

About 200 Bayley Construction employees have amassed nearly 4,500 hours of safety training, including completion of an in-house OSHA 30-hour construction safety course for all managers. Bayley is headquartered on Mercer Island with two offices in California.
