This year's attempt at a condo defect liability bill didn't make it through the state House before the regular session ended -- but supporters are still trying during the special session that began this week.
House Speaker Frank Chopp, D-Capitol Hill, holds the power to say whether the "striker" version of ESSB 5536 goes up for a vote. A striker is the bill with sentences lined, or struck, out. The Condo Alliance has been meeting with Chopp, and alliance spokesman David Yeaworth said "we're optimistic" that Rep. Bill Fromhold, D-Vancouver, will be allowed to introduce the legislation.
