Engineers' crystal ball shows 2003 growth will be modest

    Does a crystal ball always have to be made of crystal? How about a crystal ball comprised of soil and rock, bound together by environmental forces? Could such a ball grant us insight into the future?

    Environmental and geotechnical activity are often early indicators that land is being evaluated and improved, or something is soon to be built. Such activity allows us to assess the likelihood of future construction, a key economic indicator.
