On the Block: Will Amazon's five-day edict make any difference downtown?

I believe it was the noted labor economist Sophie Tucker who first asked, a century ago, “How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm (after they've seen Paree)?”

Paree is Paris, not Seattle, in the vaudeville lexicon, but the WWI-era sentiment holds true today. Even so, Amazon announced this week that it's mandating a five-day return to the office (RTO) for almost all of its office workers. The company has about 62,000 officegoers in the region, mostly in Seattle, with about one quarter of them in Bellevue. Its worldwide office count is over 350,000.
