When the Hard Rock Cafe opened in 2010, just east of Pike Place Market, it was a very different time for downtown, tourism and the market's tenuous connection to the waterfront.
The Hard Rock business was then on an expansion tear, so it leased a vacant former pawn shop at 116 Pike St., and undertook a gut renovation. That two-story building is now a century old, and can accommodate up to 450 patrons.
